New Flight Design low wing LSA announced

Via their Facebook page and the Aero show in Germany, FDUSA has announced a new aircraft, the KLA-100. Not much is known yet. Flight Design and Vessel (S.Korea) have partnered on the plane. It looks like at least some of the R&D was paid for by the Korean government. No real specs yet, and...

For Sale: Aircraft Check out this LSA 2007 CTsw deal!

It's the Real-Deal.... Meticulously maintained, low-hour aircraft owned by a senior citizen who is giving up his (powered) wings. Owner is 92, 'been flying since he was 19. He received the FAA Master Pilot award in 2009. Opening the hangar and pushing the plane around is getting to be "a...

    Update for WingX

BTW, I missed this last month, but Hilton Software (WingX) was awarded the $17 million contract to provide the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) a multi-platform world-wide mobile aeronautical solution. That's a mouthful.

Flying through MOA and restricted areas

While on FF I've been within seconds of going into a very hot Restricted area, and was never alerted by FF. AZBlackBird... you ever fly between Gila Bend and Ajo (R-2305 and associated areas)??? It's one of the hottest restricted areas, because of the Goldwater Gunnery range, Luke, and Yuma...

Deer Valley - Ask for Flight Following on ground?

They (kdvt) do have radar, reliable, right to about 400'. They are part of a mosaic system which overlays the feeds from all the local radar sources. I believe their rotating radar tower is just about 2 miles south of the airport. It's hit or miss with information being passed between PHX and...

    Fly straight out

We hear "straight out" a lot at KDVT... with busy parallel runways. Sometimes they'll use "runway heading". Either way, I assume it means there may be traffic and they'll call my turn.

Deer Valley (KDVT) to Eloy (E60) - Questions

All good info. A low pass over runway would be OK, 'no different than a landing. DenverPIlot is right, if there's jump activity, they'll let you know wind info, but but might actually land contrary to the wind themselves. You can almost always count on some dust, from somewhere. Dust devils...

    Alaska trip summer 2017

'Would love to follow your adventure... be sure to post, and even consider using a SPOT or INREACH so we (and family/friends) can track you. A couple years back, some friends flew 2 CTs from Tucson to Barrow and back. Following them was fun... and the FAA/Alaska camera network makes it like...

    Incredible SW Scenery!!

Nice!... We have a fly-in in those areas every year, with our 10th anniversary coming up this October. I can't imagine a more visually stunning area to visit by air. The fly-in is sponsored by the CTFlier forum, and we welcome all, especially Light Sport. We've had everything from Cirrus, to...

    Micro Bursts

That same system caused havoc at KCHD, 41 planes were damaged during the storm. Most were flipped over, pushed into other planes, or pushed into airport fences.

    Windows recommendations

Gotta agree it's a waste of time, and wonder about HDD size... 50GB? If it really has a drive that small, it has to be pretty old. I wonder if it even has a 32-bit version of Windows. If so, all the RAM in the world won't help. SSD would help, but between time and $$$, you're better off...

    Over the Clouds

First time really flying near a cloud, much less ABOVE them. Being a wimpy Phoenix/Southwest flier, I'd never really flown anywhere near clouds... 'just don't see them that much when you are fair-weather flying. On a trip to Seattle I encountered my first "clouds". When Flight Following...

    Plane crash video in Australia

Checking protection will do nothing... once it's in, your protection probably thinks it's OK. In fact, assuming your "protection" actually protects you is a big problem. At this point in time, every antivirus product does very little to protect you. It's because the target has changed from...
