    COVID-19 and medicals

Jeez...I don't know. You mean, as opposed to asking your burning question of SGOTI on an anonymous web forum?

    COVID-19 and medicals

"Rumor and speculation"...go read the thread and decide for yourself. Or better yet, why don't you just call the FAA Aeromedical Branch and ask them? I did. https://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/designees_delegations/designee_types/ame/amcs/phonenumbers/

    COVID-19 and medicals

APPROVED vaccines. And yes.....only rumor and speculation AFAIK. If you don’t buy it then you shouldn’t let it deter you. The FAA’s supposed stance on your pilot’s license and experimental vaccines shouldn’t be a factor in your health care decisions and whether or not to get vaccinated.

Afraid to maintain an old plane

Yes. Perusing the VAF forums can be dizzying. Me...I'm not a tinkerer, but I know which end of a wrench to hold. I can do some airplane mechanic work but I have no interest in all the amazing stuff that some of those RV guys do in front of the firewall. For me...the firewall is the point where...

    COVID-19 and medicals

Review this thread. It won't illuminate anything for you, but it might help to define the problem. https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/covid-vaccine-trials-and-medicals.127970/

Afraid to maintain an old plane

$2345. Plus A&P. But that's just for the HSI. If you also want it for DG, multiply that x 2. The STC'd version can't be toggled between the two. IIUC. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/garmin-g5-cert.php?clickkey=93808 compared to...

    COVID-19 and medicals

No. But influenza vaccinations are FDA-approved. As of now...there are no COVID vaccines that are FDA approved, and if any are approved, they'll fall under an Emergency Use Aauthorization for the foreseeable future. Thus far....no one has confirmed for me that the Federal Air Surgeon sees an EUA...

Afraid to maintain an old plane

My mission was tailor-made for E-AB. There's only one person who will fly with me....

Afraid to maintain an old plane

Oh no! You don't get off that easy. We're not done yet...we're going to chew this one for another 100 posts regardless of whether or not your question was answered.

    COVID-19 and medicals

I don't want to suspend my flying while the FAA deals with its internal absurdities. And...I'm not sure of the safety of these various vaccines.

Afraid to maintain an old plane

STC's are really expensive. I just bought a G5 Experimental and installed it myself....$1250 all-in. And I can toggle it between HSI and DG.

    COVID-19 and medicals

I'm wondering about the various COVID vaccines.... I work in a hospital in direct patient care and will get priority access to vaccination. I wonder if that hospital will require me to get a COVID vaccination I wonder if an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA will be accepted by the FAA as...

Afraid to maintain an old plane

RV-9A. I went with an RV because I wanted something that would be fun to fly, easier (and cheaper) to maintain, and newer. I spent most of this morning with a buddy pulling the EFIS's (EFI?) and sending them off for upgrade. Experimental avionics are very "cost-efficient" to buy, I've found. I...

Think the FAA got it right this time

I was intrigued by the unlikely title of the thread. But yeah, Mikey seems to have gone out of his way to be "that guy".

Afraid to maintain an old plane

I had the same concerns. Bought the 9 year-old RV. In three months, I've replaced an engine-driven fuel pump, one tire, and I just sent my EFIS in for replacement/upgrade. Moral of the story....if your baseline vehicle maintenance is automobiles, all airplanes are maintenance pigs. I don't...

Flight track cut out when FF cancelled

SkyBeacon is UAT only. FlightAware doesn't track UAT/978 mhz. UAT is different than "standard" ADSB-out (1090 mhz). If FlightAware sees and tracks your airplane at all, it will only be through the FAA's data feed...an ATC service like flight following that you have to actively engage.

Flight track cut out when FF cancelled

Just out of curiosity, what kind of ADS-B are you using? I use a UAT transciever and virtually never show up on FlightAware unless I'm using flight following or have otherwise engaged ATC.

    COVID vaccine trials and medicals

What about getting shot up with a vaccine approved under an EUA? FAA ok with EUAs?

    COVID-19 and medicals

I wouldn't even mention a covid-19 infection to my doctor or especially to the FAA unless I had been hospitalized.
