PIREP My total cost for PPL 2018/2019

I spent about $3500 for my private in 2017. I had 50 hrs total (20.1 dual) and $400 for the DPE. Of course it helped that I could just borrow Dad's Cherokee instead of renting and just had to pay for gas, oil, CFI, and help out with the mx costs.

About That Sport Pilot Thing: The State Of Stuff

Have you asked around at your local airports? There's plenty of people that find CFIs or planes through word of mouth. I did. +1 on finding a CFI that is willing to train you in your own aircraft.

How Often are grass runway used, when there is a paved runway?

The type of grass matters as well. Bermuda is very draggy compared to fescue unless its cut pretty short.

How Often are grass runway used, when there is a paved runway?

That doesn't sound so bad, but of course what folks consider "too windy" can vary by where you live. What do you fly? As others have said that will be a factor in your decision whether or not to use the grass.

    Amphibian types and recommendations

I'm ignorant when it comes to float planes, but wouldn't putting a 182 on floats be a little better than a 180 or 185 just to have the extra cabin width?

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

One Monday morning a mailman is walking the neighborhood on his usual route. As he approaches one of the homes he noticed that both cars were in the driveway. His wonder was cut short by Bob, the homeowner, coming out with a load of empty beer and liquor bottles. "Wow Bob, looks like you guys...

Cherokee 140 Pilot Side Vent Window

I don't recall any restrictions in the owners manual for that window. As others have said you can only use the scoop on the ground if you have it installed, but I'll open the window in flight if its a hot day and sometimes use my hand as a "scoop" to get a little extra air.

I got .9 after work last night. Had to beat the winter weather that's hitting this morning.

    Total airframe time, engine overhaul

:yeahthat: Low time on an older plane can mean it spent a lot of time sitting around being neglected. Our 65' Cherokee only flew about 30 hours in the 10 years before we owned it, everything worked but not always all that well. We have put 100+ hours a year on her since then and things simply...

tough landing for this Piper Malibu ...

Looks like they moved it about 200 feet. I'm wondering why they needed a truck with a crane instead of a tug unless the nosegear was damaged when he went into the snowbank.
