Dallas Area meet-up Sat 2/25 at MEXIA (KLXY)

Very few things beat flying, but celebrating something like that....does. Congrats to a lucky lady.

    VPZ Crash Today

Pilot walked away. That's what airplanes are for. To take us to the skies, and, when all hell happens in the air, crumple under us and save us to fly another day. That being said, I've loved both of the airplanes I've owned, and would hate to damage either one of them in an accident. But, in...

Dallas Area meet-up Sat 2/25 at MEXIA (KLXY)

What about Granbury or Mexia? Granbury has cars and there are lots of restaurants to choose from. Mexia may/may not have a car, but a tasty BBQ joint is just an easy walk down the road.

How much to rent an Enterprise vehicle for 2 days?

I'e rented from Enterprise from coast to coast. Most of their locations are really nice. Keep in mind if you flying in and renting for a weekend, they are closed on Sunday, hence another day rental. Renting from a major terminal is another whole deal.

[R[NA]ant] The world is changing and I aint. [/R[/NA]t]

Good Lord, 40? You whining about that? Glasses? You are gonna find some serious issues in your future. No sympathy, here, sorry. Learn to adjust. (kidding, of course)

    Fear of fall?

when you learn to bond with the plane you are flying, then you will get it. In the beginning, stay looking outside the plane. Your CFI is responsible for the stuff inside.

    Fear of fall?

Turbulence takes time to get comfortable with. Remember, you control the airplane, it doesn't control you. You make it go and do what you want. You'll get there. You're in the normal majority.

    Fear of fall?

I'd never heard the idea of flying a low-wing to combat it, but I get the concept. But the biggest take out of all this, would be in my opinion, the emergency landing scenario. It might sound scary to a new pilot such as yourself, but once you understand that you aren't going to 'fall' but...

Can Anyone Answer Rookie 430W Elementary Questions?

I just bought a Tiger with the 430W, which is quite unfamiliar to me. Lucky me, it also came with the FS210, and I've found setting up flight plans on the iPad, then just pushing them to the 430, is easy-peasy. I'll ultimately learn all the tricks that the 430 can do, but having the 210...

Wanted: A Few Expired Paper Sectionals

Dang...about 4 years too late. I moved on from paper long ago. I even had about half of the US posted on the wall of my 'aviation room' (also known as the guest bedroom), and that's gone now.

    landing on a public road?

God Love Texas. And Alaska, where I hear it's perfectly legal. And, if I need a road to land on, I'm headed there. Most anywhere in the western part of the U.S.

Just took first flight lesson...is it normal to feel overhwhelmed?

I love this thread! Reminds me of my flight training days! And, I started training at an 'older age', too. Yes, you will be overwhelmed. It's the CFI's job to teach you skills, and as soon as you almost have them, introduce something new to try to assimilate. It's when you can fly it all...

Plane Owners - Would You Rent out your Plane?

I think the responses to the vote pretty much give the answer.

    DG is dying....

AirDallas just did the overhaul on the DG in my Traveler after it decided to suddenly just spin out of control. Turnaround time was not much more than a week.

    Any Feedback on Savvy Pre-buy

Mike is referring to me. I've owned a Traveler for 9 years, and a Tiger for 2 months, but I've been involved with Grumman's longer than that, as part of my private pilot training was in a Cheetah. I will be unashamedly biased towards the Grumman line. I can't really give you much comparison...

Is it smart to buy a plane right now?

to the original poster..really? You are trying to rationalize something that can't be rationalized. Do you want to fly, when you want to? Then do it. Everything else is fluff.

    Enterprise Rent-A-Car Rant/Good Review

My experience has been quite different. I've rented exclusively from Enterprise for well over 15 years, both GA and commercial (and occasionally when I have my car go in for unexpected maintenance). Other than one particularly obnoxious office on the Texas gulf coast who treated me like some...
