    [NA] highway tailgaters

The cruise control in my car can be set in 1mph increments. So here I am, cruising down an almost empty interstate. Except for the car that zoomed up behind me. Very close behind me. So I began to take 1 mph off the cruise control every 20 seconds or so. I could see the driver and her...

Flight Planning for the Hudson River SFRA

Just a note of caution. My advice is: decide in advance who is going to be the PIC for the flight, and who are the sightseers. The Hudson River route is not that difficult, but it is a very rich visual environment! -Skip

    Odd Class D interaction

I trained at KBDR Bridgeport, CT, a class D non-radar towered field. They used to have some USAir flights there but they didn’t have enough passenger traffic to sustain USAir, so USAir folded its tent and took its Beech 99’s elsewhere The contract tower guys realized that us GA touch and go...

    Another ramp worker ingested

Where on the spectrum of misleading to careless, would you put “ignorant”? The media rarely knows anything about the subject of aviation, and is happy to remain ignorant on the subject! -Skip

    Sub lost contact over Titanic

yes there would be noise caused by an implosion. Your use of the plural “imploding” is not the case, however. At those pressures, an implosion would be very close to instantaneous. The noise generated by the implosion would be loud, and very short in duration. -Skip

Just had a TOL Eval. Went pretty badly.

This can’t be true. If it is true, immediately fire your CFI and/or your Flight School. Find another…. or quit your whining. -Skip

Just had a TOL Eval. Went pretty badly.

So have you met with your CFI on the ground to ask for his evaluation and reasoning? Not saying you are right or wrong. It is just that we (the collective “we”) need both sides of the story before we can provide meaningful advice. -Skip

    Multiple Myeloma

as Dr. Bruce says, Bone Marrow transplantation is a possible treatment, depending on a lot of variables. My wife’s MD team extracted her bone marrow and stored in a blood bank for potential future use. it is amazing to me, what medical science can do today. -Skip

    Multiple Myeloma

My wife had/has multiple myeloma. As Dr. Lou (message above) suggests, remission is possible. She underwent about a year’s worth of intravenous infusions on a weekly schedule and came through it in remission. None of the hair loss typically associated with cancer treatment happened. Note...

    Tell Me How To Move

If the movers will be charging by the pound moved, be aware that they will pack everything - and I mean EVERY BLESSED THING - to increase the weight. On my last move, they packed full wastebaskets. They packed the woodpile. Each log carefully wrapped in mover's paper and put into a cardboard...

I just got back from my first ever medical, is this normal?...

Describe the lighting in your exam room. The Ishichara (sp?) tests are accurate only when given at a certain degree Kelvin of light. If your vision is marginal, the color temperature of ordinary fluorescent light will significantly degrade your color perception, and may create a false fail...
