    Funny conversation with my wife

Wow, I am also married to a "Tami." I thought I was the only one. I must agree....Tami is a great girl and we have fun together. BTW, we have three compressors. I found one on the street and repaired it after I already had one at home and one in the hangar. The "new" one is a 30 gal with...

This is why I hate statistics

I got my only "C" in 'Probs and Stats' because I was convinced that when asked what the probability of an event was, I said either it will or it won't so the answer is always 50-50.

To mask or not to mask?

We had a family Zoom. My brother the retired immunologist, my niece the ER doctor and my other niece the surgeon gave this advice: 1. Take care of yourself and those close to you with a properly worn mask. 2. Avoid standing in crowds of unknown people. Stay upwind and keep moving. 3. Avoid...

Here's a thought, tell the vendor that due to COVID 19 you have to quarantine and you are not sure which house to do it and want to know where the package is going so you can be there to pick it up.

How difficult/competitive is it to get a fighter slot in the Marine corps?

This is very true when it comes to fixed wing aviation. The Marines have "green" dollars and "blue" dollars. The blue dollars are from the Navy budget and pay for things that are going out on the big carriers. Sometimes fixed wing has money to fly and sometimes rotary wing has money to fly...

How difficult/competitive is it to get a fighter slot in the Marine corps?

There are many Marines that started out thinking they were going to be pilots. Don't try to become a Marine if you only want to fly. If that doesn't work out you just can't quit. Flying in the Marine Corps is an additional duty. You will have to be an officer in the squadron performing...

Who here carries a handheld com transceiver?

My handheld is in my go bag. It's a Vertex. On a flight about 45 minutes out the controller said my XPNDR was intermittent and I turned back. I was able to contact HSV approach but not the tower. I picked up my handheld and made the last few calls. It turns out the exciting wire to my...

    Minimum maneuvering speed?

During my private pilot exam (at FDK) the examiner told me to enter slow flight with the stall horn sounding and then had me do turns and climbs and descents and told me if the horn stopped sounding I would fail. We were at full flaps in a 172. At the end of that she told me to raise the flaps...

    Hand sanitizer on planes

My airport (KHSV) sent out their newsletter and said passengers can bring up to 12 oz of hand sanitizer through TSA. If you don't have some, they will give you a 3 oz bottle. Now if they can get more than 10 passenger flight a day the TSA would be busy.

    Impending, possible meat shortages

The dairy farmers are also pouring out milk. I read that Publics is buying up as much milk as it can and giving it to food banks and shelters. Good on them.
