Invest in a little Internet bookseller startup called Amazon.

    Nissan Armada or...

I've never bought a vehicle based on MPG nor interior space, so yeah those criteria don't mean anything to me. I use my Wrangler as a daily driver, and don't even know (nor care) what kind of mileage I'm getting. I just fill it up when the gauge gets to E. I also got the two-door version and...

I'm almost afraid to click on this! :)

    Nissan Armada or...

I've always owned Jeeps, so gotta throw the hat in the ring for a Grand Cherokee. That would be my SUV of choice, if I were in the market for anything resembling a mid-size SUV. I know a lot of folks will bring up quality issues with Jeeps, but I've owned three of them (93 Cherokee, 04 Grand...

Hypothetical: Time to fly Cirrus Vision Jet

If I won the lottery, and money was no object, I'd continue my current plan, which is: SR20 -> SR22T and then MAYBE add on "-> Vision Jet" last, after many hours getting proficient in the SR22. I got to see the inside of the SF50 recently, and of course it's a very cool plane. But I'm single...

    First solo completed today!

Yep! I think 3GS was also the plane I went up in when I took my first lesson. Unfortunately not. I thought about getting a GoPro and trying to video it, but didn't have time, and figured it would just be a distraction getting it set up, on a day when I didn't need any distractions. But, as...

PIREP My total cost for PPL 2018/2019

Yep, me too! Every time I go up, I get an emailed invoice from the flight school that night or the next day, and it hits one of my credit card. I see the monthly bill from the credit card company, but I've been too afraid to total everything up. At first, I told myself I would total it all up...

    First solo completed today!

Thanks everybody! And yes, it definitely "got real" when I took off by myself and realized now I have to land by myself! No shirts were harmed in the making of this solo :) My instructor actually writes the date, the reg number of the plane, and some other cool stuff, on your shirt. I've...

    How many landings before solo?

Congrats on your upcoming solo! I just did mine today. I haven't been keeping running totals in my head of hours or landings, but out of curiosity, I just now ran the numbers, and prior to today, I was at 45 hours and 105 total landings.

    First solo completed today!

After getting delayed for a little over a week by afternoon winds almost every day at KAPA (Centennial), I finally knocked out my first solo this morning! Instructor and I did two touch-and-gos to make sure I was ready, and I dropped him off at the hangars, and I went up and did three full stop...

NOTAMS Are Garbage, says the NTSB chief

I'm still a student pilot, so haven't gotten fully steeped in the way of NOTAMs yet, but it amazes me being in the IT field, that nobody has come up with a system to digest all this information and present it in a meaningful way. It looks like the classic case of too much quantitative info, and...

    Interesting day at Centennial (KAPA)

Reports of two aircraft incidents today on Centennial's Twitter account, within about an hour of each other. Looks like a twin Cessna coming in on 17L had a nose gear collapse. And then about an hour later, a Piper Comanche had some kind of issue (maybe also gear related on 17R?). Both...

Tell us your best courtesy car story!

Muscle Shoals! Brings back memories - I grew up in Florence, just across the river. I was thinking about the Muscle Shoals airport just the other day. I went there a couple times as a little kid when my parents had to pick up my sister who flew in from when she lived in Memphis. That was...

Tell us your best courtesy car story!

I saw somebody driving a pristine looking K-car around Denver a few months ago. At least from the outside, it looked like the thing just rolled off the showroom floor. I thought sure all those cars had long been dead and shuffled off to car heaven.

How can I reverse this fan?

Just pretend it's a part for an airplane. It'll seem cheap by comparison!

    Airbus Ceases A380 Production

I've never gotten the chance to fly on a 747, and always wanted to. I always wanted to splurge on a trip to Europe and fly in the upper deck of the 747. I see on a Wikipedia article (if accurate) that British Airways still flies 34 of them, and Virgin Atlantic flies 8. So maybe there's still...

How is the twins market ?

I've always liked the DA42, but even if I had the money, I'm not sure I'd buy one. Diamonds don't seem to be that prevalent in the states, and that would make me concerned about parts availability, service, and support.
