    Scallops are amazing.

"They've brought forth juniper berries!" "Of course they've brought forth juniper berries. They're juniper bushes!"

    Scallops are amazing.

Grapeseed oil maybe? I've read that's a good oil to use for high-temp use?

    Scallops are amazing.

I love properly prepared scallops! But I only ever order scallops from nice restaurants that know how to make them. Same with calamari. I've never tried making them myself. I have no doubt they'd come out wrong, with a texture much like chewing on pencil erasers.

    Chances for oldtimer learner

Started my training just a few months ago at age 51. If anything, it's probably easier and more enjoyable for me now than when I was younger because I have more disposable income to devote to my training.

    Vicious killer snake!

In the early 90's when I was on one of my first trips to Yellowstone National Park, I was hiking a trail that had a sharp curve around a hillside. You couldn't see what was on the other side until you'd rounded the corner. So I rounded the corner, and about 15 feet away from me was a HUGE bull...

    Checklist app?

I've always said I have zero use for an iWatch, or any kind of wearable technology device. And I'm perfectly fine using a printed checklist. But I am curious if an iWatch/wearable would make for a convenient platform for showing and checking off checklist items, especially preflight items?

    Sad time in my life

Although I'm not a whisky drinker, I LOVE Scotland. Had the chance to go there in the 90s and I've always wanted to return. I loved Edinburgh (even more than London), the Scots, and the countryside. Toured Balvenie and it was fun, but was sadly lost on me. While I love a good red wine, I...

What’s the secret trick for getting a plug into a child proof socket?

Sometimes I'm amazed how any kid could have survived growing up decades ago. I grew up in the 60s and 70s as a little kid with: - Lack of seat belts in some cars (or never used them) - No child car seats - No helmets when riding bikes - Climbed trees - Licking raw cake batter with raw eggs in...

    Phone Scammers Getting Smarter...

I don't either. Doesn't seem like there's any financial incentive for them to fix it. Maybe what needs to happen is regulation (can't believe I used that word) with pretty stiff penalties and fines on the CARRIERS (not the callers) every time one of these spoofed spammy calls gets through...

    Wow, close call..!!!

My Mom was very afraid of lightning and thunderstorms, to the point she refused to use electrical appliances, run water, or use the phone during a thunderstorm. I remember even after we got her a cordless phone for her birthday one year, she still wouldn't use it during a thunderstorm. I used...

    Donut Etiquette

Uh oh! I'm guilty of this one, but I have a good excuse - I'm trying to watch my girlish figure! (says the 51 year old overweight balding guy) We have a guy on our team who's started working remotely a couple days a week, but the day varies. So as a team, we've started appointing somebody...
