Europe: UK to Corsica and various Greek islands

http://www.peter2000.co.uk/aviation/corsica-greece/ This article describes a relatively complicated trip from Shoreham EGKA, UK, with the following stops (1) Albenga LIMG in Italy (refuel only) (2) Calvi LFKC in Corsica, France (3) Corfu LGKR in Greece (refuel) (4) Sitia LGST in Crete, Greece...

    Europe: UK to Salamanca, Spain

www.peter2000.co.uk/aviation/lesa/ This was just a quick trip, but a very scenic destination in Spain, near Portugal.

UK to Ireland (Dublin, Sligo, Kerry)

It would be a scenic flight allright... but... then you have to do it all again coming back :) It's about 30hrs in the air.

Shoreham EGKA (UK) to Elba LIRJ (Italy) - trip report from Europe

here American pilots will probably laugh at the way things have to be done in Europe, but if it focuses minds on how bad things could get without an active AOPA, that's an achievement :)

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

I know no more. A google indeed suggests old fuel, but the airport claims they have "cycled" the whole bowser several times this year. don't think it is anything to do with the aircraft not flying enough.

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

The fuel was tested and was found to have a GUM content of 32 which is about 10x the spec... it was dumped and the fuel system is being cleaned out, with a new fuel servo and engine pump fitted.

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

It was near the operating ceiling, about FL180. But these airplanes routinely fly to FL190-200. I have a more recent one myself but it has the same engine and fuel system, so I would be keen to find out what this was (if they ever find out). There is a very fine (but large area) stainless...

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

No - apparently just a straight cut. Then a quick and smooth restore, seconds after the electric pump plus alt air were selected. No other indications noticed (or logged electronically). The pilot reported it being just like somebody pulled the mixture to zero and then put it right back.

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

I don't think anybody knows because nobody was looking at it. All that was noticed during the brief time was that the EGTs all fell right down, and then came back up to normal as if nothing happened.

Can a fuel servo failure cause a temporary fuel starvation

I was discussing this with a colleague the other day, who had a approx 10 sec fuel flow interruption, with an IO540 engine and the RSA5AD1 servo. It was all over very fast and the engine ran perfectly afterwards, following the pulling of the alternate air and switching on the electric fuel pump...

Champion -v- Unison Spark Plug Comparrison

Champions, with their rubbish resistors, are best junked. I had about a 100% failure rate on the resistors. And I was testing them with a high voltage tester, not a DVM. I moved to Tempest, URHS38S, and the resistance is totally stable.

    Electronics International

Regarding erratic fuel readings, you may like to read this. The flow sensor wires must be shielded and the shield must go to the airframe, not to the instrument ground pin or some such. My EGTs on the EDM700 go for a walkabout over about 20F, and it is caused by the strobes.

    Garmin 430 "memory battery low"

There is a general procedure here http://www.euroga.org/articles/technical/resources/index for changing a soldered-down battery, without losing the current product config.

    Handheld avionics product liability

That's useful input - many thanks. I have a business in electronic manufacture - since 1991. We don't make anything to do with aviation, but have always exported a lot to the USA - maybe 20% of our sales whicha re currently about $1M/year. We have product liability insurance, which is included...

    Handheld avionics product liability

I am based in Europe and would be interested in input from somebody who is actually in the business of making and selling some "widget" which is sold in the USA. How easy is it to get product liability insurance, and what are the main risk factors which insurers look at? For example, take the...

    Avionics Production Costs

Having been in electronics since 1978, I think the first reply is the closest :) The market has huge barriers to entry. The biggest one is dealer loyalty. That is quite complex. It starts with the fact that certified avionics must be installed by an avionics installer (actually it doesn't...

FS: A complete KCS-55 slaved compass system

Let me see if this lot goes. If it doesn't then yes I will break it up. If you drop me an email I will keep it handy in case that happens. I've just installed the SG102 also - and with two SN3500 EHSIs installed, that's mainly why I am selling this lot. The Sandel stuff is very good. I would...
