Any recommendations for hangar floor epoxy?

I know the owners of this company - and they did my garage floor. Very satisfied. You can get their do-it-yourself kits and do your garage and/or hangar... https://www.epoxy-coat.com/

    Busting Canadian airspace

I've done the same thing lots of times. If you are on flight following with a discreet transponder code, you are 'legal' to cross the border and come back :-) I fly across Canada down to Ohio all the time using FF. If you were going to attract attention, you would know very quickly. It...

    Holding pattern or not?

Every approach I've seen shows NoPT somewhere if not approaching from the airport side of the center fix. Unless you have to make more than a 90 degree turn from your position to final, very rarely is a course reversal required.

Clearance on the ground or the in the air?

It wasn’t this summer when I flew out of there with a student. I’ve never had one work despite many attempts at many locations over the years.

    GTN 650, CDI, and Direct-To

Haven’t tried going to a waypoint not on the flight plan in quite a while. Sounds like the latest s/w acts as expected. That is a good thing :-)

    GTN 650, CDI, and Direct-To

Entering a 'new' Direct-To waypoint when you have an existing active Flight Plan will usually confuse Garmin (any of their units - I've done it on the G1000 a few times). So you are correct - get rid of the existing flight plan, then go Direct-to an entered waypoint. If you have a flight plan...

Crash of a...ah...airplane(?) at Willow Run

It is supposed to be designed so that the canard stalls first. Not the easiest thing to do, and this shows what happens when you don't!

    Cleared as filed?

When flying charter (a few years back...), not unusual for someone else to file the flight plan. So if I got a 'cleared as filed', I'd ask for a full route clearance "because I didn't do the filing." They would read the routing, no problem.

    A C172 into Lambert KSTL?

Back in the 80’s, I taught primary students out of KSTL. Even when it was ‘busy’, it wasn’t a problem . We had a flight club based at Midcoast back then.

    Editing an edited post...

Maybe a timing thing. The repost may not have been fully processed by the server before your second edit. Or some local caching may have used a local copy. Or maybe you weren’t holding your pinkie just right. Or Apple is just screwing with you

What does it mean to takeoff under IFR?

A Part 91 IFR pilot can operate in IMC in uncontrolled airspace, which is why the clearance starts "upon entering controlled airspace..." So if the bases are below 700' you are IFR but not on a clearance until 700'.

What does it mean to takeoff under IFR?

They are taking off VFR even if they have an IFR clearance. So the NA is NA :) Their clearance doesn’t apply until they enter controlled airspace (probably at 700’ AGL). ‘Under IFR’, means ‘under IFR conditions’.

    Eliminating circling approaches... or not...

The paved runway at my home base - 57D - is only 2500 ft long. The only approach (GPS) is lined up with runway 09, but only circling minimums are given. Not sure why, obviously some criteria is not met ??

    Density Altitude verses Hypoxia

It is the partial pressure of O2 (pressure x % of O2) to transfer the O2 to the blood. That is why Pressure altitude is important, not density.

    Looking for CFII-Only Certificate (photo)

Not sure what you mean by 'no aircraft ratings' I have Airplane Single Engine, and Instrument airplane. Is that good? Or are you looking for someone who is ONLY a CFII (not a CFI)?

    Laptop won't boot

Try holding F1 when you turn it on. It should give you options like Safe Mode for startup. I've had computers start in Safe Mode, then I shut it down and restarted and it worked normally. May have just been lucky. If your hard drive has issues in the boot sector, you may have to boot from a...
