Not sure the best way to answeryour question codydog. I can’t say age is a problem. I am struggling with obtaining a medical. Diabetic and other health issues. Working through it all now.

    Stress Test

Maybe started this thread too soon. Just got a call back from a local hospital that does this same stress test for FAA all the time. I am scheduled for 1-2-19. Been stuck in menu hell with Vanderbilt for 2 weeks.

    Stress Test

I have another thread I started under Medical Topics called "Frustrated". Well, I'm still frustrated, but, this time I have a question maybe an AME on here can help me with. I will be a special issuance from FAA. I received a letter from them requesting more information November 27th. One of...

This may be the only post on this forum about a new student pilot struggling with landings. :-) Maybe 12 hours into my training. Time before last I thought I had my landings figured out. I nailed all my approaches. Still was struggling with the flare/touchdown a bit, but overall, good landings...

    Frustrated

You're right. I didn't like what you had to say, but, I know you're right. I need to quit smoking and work on lifestyle changes. I've known that for a long time. Maybe this flying bug that hit me is the excuse I needed to make those lifestyle changes. I'm in the process of scheduling both the...

Average Dual Time Before Solo - I Know - Everyone is Different

I’m not sure yet. If you want to stay married I would suggest not taking my advice

You’re wrong about that part. I can do both. I threw a fit, but it only lasted a few hours. Now I am in the process of complying. Really no other choice, if I intend to fly.

Average Dual Time Before Solo - I Know - Everyone is Different

It is going to cost you $150 an hour to fly after you have your PPL. So change your spreadsheet to reflect $50 an hour for the training. Thats what I told my wife it costs

Nailed my landings today. Well not exactly nailed it, but they were good, and the CFI didn’t have to nudge the controls any. My best landing today...as I was on final approach I just knew the approach was spot on..the speed was right, winds were calm...just felt right. At the beginning of the...

    Frustrated

Reluctant to toss all this out here in a forum, but, here goes. I'm 61 y/o and am 10 hours into getting my PPL. I consider myself relatively healthy although I am Type 2 diabetic, I smoke, & my exercise consists of walking to the truck from the office or house. I did have a Melanoma removed off...

Venting some fusterations and possible ideas/solutions

One way I justify the cost of training to obtain a PPL is to remember even while training, I am flying and enjoying myself. What will it cost you to fly after you get your PPL? It certainly won’tbe free. I probably don’t make sense. Can you afford to fly if you already had your PPL?

Thanks for the response LongRoadBob. I like your story. I flew ultra-lights a bit but it was over 20 years ago. Like most of us, when I was young and way healthy I didn't have 2 cents to rub together and couldn't afford to spell airplane.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

61 y/o semi retired and going for my PPL. I've got 9-1/2 hours so far. Doing my ground school stuff through King Schools. I've learned a lot, but, I still have lots to learn. I've landed w/o input from CFI a few times. Not ready to solo yet, but, I think I'm getting close. Another few lessons I...

Not much to update ya'll on. Holidays and other things kept me from flying much. Twice in the last 4 weeks. I'm hoping to get 2-3 a week from here on out. I still land just well enough to not kill myself. It gets frustrating I just can't grasp the last part of the landing, flaring etc. It'll...
