I don’t believe it. But Airbus is targeting 2035 for a zero emissions commercial aircraft. So maybe possible?

Interesting info on here and something I’ve wondered about from time to time. After my TBI I decided LSA was good enough for me. I, personally, had no interest in jumping through the FAAs hoops.
Long EZ. You see them listed pretty regularly for <$30k. They’re quick, have great ramp appeal, sip fuel, and have great visibility. Only 2 seats, but that doesn’t sound like a problem for you.
If someone got their 3rd class medical and then stopped flying for a while (assume medical expires), could they solo, complete their training, and take their check ride under BasicMed?
I’m going to take this thread further off track. I believe a pilot can fly a motor glider IFR if appropriately rated. And you don’t need a medical to fly gliders. So I believe if the OP truly wanted to fly IFR, but didn’t want to get a medical they could if they got a glider rating.

If you don’t need the cruise speed, but want better short field performance (and are ok with a homebuilt) how about a Zenith CH-801.
1050lbs useful load
Takeoff roll: 290ft, 390 at gross
How about a Maule instead? Little slower, little less useful load, but lot shorter landing distance.
4 seats
1000lbs useful
235 hp
Takeoff 500ft
Cruise: 130kts
Not what you asked, but here’s a good resource on airfoils (The incomplete guide to airfoil usage): https://m-selig.ae.illinois.edu/ads/aircraft.html
lots of other popular ones: Roncz, Gottingen, Clark Y.
we typically bring a bag of cashews when we travel as a good easy snack when we get hangry. Apparently those look like weapons in the scanners too. I’ve started taking those out of my bag ahead of time as we were always being stopped.
On our last trip a box of saltines got us questioned.
