    Mobile A&P in Boston area?

I’m looking for a pre-buy mechanic for a Cherokee 180 at KLWM. Any mobile A&P’s nearby? Any other suggestions? And yes, I already reached out to Lawrence Airmotive and Falcon Air.

    GoPro exterior camera mounting locations

Aviation is bad ass so I fail to see the problem. Here’s another! :D https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRafxoAs/

    GoPro exterior camera mounting locations

Sweet view! How did you mount on top of the wing? Any downsides to a 360 camera?

    GoPro exterior camera mounting locations

I made this video comparing three exterior camera placement locations (under the tail, over the tail, and under the wing) with my Piper Cherokee. I used the “MyPilotPro Swivel Airplane Mount” and a GoPro Hero 10 go take this footage: Let’s hear your favorite mounting locations! In my opinion...

Formation flying: Georgia pilots near Atlanta?

We did. In short: 1. Lead is on left. Follower approaches and joins lead on the right. 2. If one aircraft loses sight, and confirms the the other still has visual, communicate and correct. 3. If both aircraft lose sight, lead breaks left, follower breaks right. In this case, #2 applied. He had...

Formation flying: Georgia pilots near Atlanta?

Met up with Flocker and we had a lot of fun! Kept a reasonable distance at all times. Having a passenger as a dedicated spotter/photographer in each plane added an extra layer of safety. Here’s a couple video clips of the fun: Full video (10:44) with original aircraft audio: Condensed...

Formation flying: Georgia pilots near Atlanta?

That’s exactly what I have in mind. Nothing fancy, lead plane just flies straight and level, 95 knots at 3,000 MSL, pilots on 122.75 for air-to-air communications, and let the passengers take photos.

    Garmin GDL 50

12V (1968 PA-28-140). I’ve since flown multiple times with the GDL-50 and its battery, as seen on the Foreflight “devices” tab, has always remained at 100%. I leave it plugged in.

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

Fair points, though I strongly suspect it went off that morning and had only been running a few minutes. The mechanic I talked to was surprised when I walked in with the ELT signal blaring in my handheld - the FBO monitors 121.5 and in his words, “they would immediately send someone to check it...

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

If a landing of any kind set off my ELT, then it was running continuously for a whole week since my last flight. I doubt the battery would last that long.

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

Yeah there’s two problems: (1) the ELT going off, which I heard in my handheld, and (2) the delayed-startup of the avionics stack, which turned on midway through my taxi. I thought they might be related but from the feedback here, it sounds like it is coincidental.

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

This is an interesting theory. A couple variations on this - it’s possible my Garmin GDL-50 was drawing too much power from the cigarette lighter, preventing the avionics capacitors from fully charging until I cycled the GDL-50. Alternatively, if there was a nearby lightning strike (to set off...

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

I’m convinced I should replace the ELT. Even though the AD states replacement is optional, this incident shows its problematic nature. So ELT aside… should I be worried about the avionics not coming on until half way down the taxiway? I’ve never come across such a problem and I have no idea...

    Avionics & ELT Weirdness

This morning my avionics stack (radios, GPS, transponder) would not come on during start up (master, then engine startup, then avionics switch). These items were all connected to the avionics switch and did not power on. Everything else was working fine, such as the beacon, Garmin G5 attitude...

Formation flying: Georgia pilots near Atlanta?

Nice, Samuel! I'm hoping I can find another interested party to meet up with this weekend for a mutual aerial photo shoot. If anyone is interested, feel free to message me and we'll exchange details.

Formation flying: Georgia pilots near Atlanta?

I was thinking 150 ft spacing, straight and level at 90 knots, certainly not airshow formation flying.

    I’m calling the peak

The opposite. Listings have lower airframe and engine times, and better avionics and overall condition. Compared to the first quarter of this year, you can get a better plane for less money.
