Can an airplane be flown while its annual inspection is still in progress?

I would assume that a typical IA would be within their rights to start the clock all over again since you have no idea what the pilot did with the plane. The IA has to certify at the end it’s all airworthy. Interruption of the chain of inspection.

(Piston) Engine Failure Rate: 1/3200 hrs, yikes!

You have an equal chance with every flight. Fly accordingly.

Why do people leave bags and not throw them away?

I’ve seen people drop a bag walk and pick it up as they come back to home, just so they don’t carry it the whole walk. Not my style but it does happen.

    Suing for Copyright Infringement

The Digital Rights law right to privacy due to the EU legal work establishes “notice and takedown” for websites that violate the law’s rules and privacy rights. A good internet law attorney can tell you if you have any rights here.

Some of us have been waiting for years for this production to get off the ground and take flight. It’s been a long time.

    Van’s Aircraft Facing Challenges

The point is that we don’t live in a free market. It’s all actually controlled by a handful of corporations while we live under an illusion of a marketplace.

    Van’s Aircraft Facing Challenges

Look at the Cessna TTX if you want a modern example of a big company buying a design that came out of home building.

    PA-44 down in Oregon

My only comment is that pilot schools become pilot factories and it takes calendar time to develop reflexes, judgment, deep knowledge, understanding and muscle memory. . . and a first flight isn't a great time to do VMC instruction because of overloaded brain functioning in a new environment...

    Horizon Jumpseater goes crazy

The NY Post has the wrong flight posted. The flight came out of KPAE in Everett to the north, going south. Not surprised given the Post's reputation. That flight track appears to be missed approach to PDX and a landing Redmond, OR.

    Richard McSpadden Crash

My read of the NTSB is that we are looking at the last fifteen seconds of the decisions made in the flight. At a time when things were probably very, very busy for the pilots trying to make the best of a situation that had gone sour. So a lot of the controls could have been a last minute...

    Richard McSpadden Crash

Quote: "In the case of retract Cessnas, dropping the gear takes more time than most airplanes and adds additional drag while doing it. If they did attempt to lower the gear on a 177RG, that may very well have made the difference between life and death in this case. If I was attempting a turn...

    Richard McSpadden Crash

That NTSB PR is going stop a lot of Monday morning quarterbacks about the engine, prop and also the gear position in the crash. Sad to read, but this is going to be a long process to make a determination that makes common sense. Wish there was a smoking gun, but it doesn't look obvious...

We need to teach that to turn back to the runway increases your chances of death by 50%. Using Ron’s numbers. Anyone doing video eyecandy on the impossible turn needs to start with that.

    Richard McSpadden Crash

Blunt force stop. They survived the initial impact briefly. Most people forget that our hearts and other organs do not have a solid connection to the body and they float in the chest with veins and arteries providing anchorage. Unlike cars, airplanes have no crush zone. If they extended the...

    Williams AZ - 3 fatalities- PA-28

Cherokee Cruisers with 150 hp are great two person planes at sea level. Three at gross at DA of 9K would barely climb, even if the engine was working well. Wonder if they had issues with leaning the engine at that DA.

A65 non-electric starter (what was it called?)

The McDowell starter was standard equipment on the Aeronca 11AC Chief. They stopped production in the 1950s and the company is no longer in business. It was developed for the Model T to avoid hand starting with the crank. Many people abused them, didn't maintain them and they tossed them. You...
