Why not a Sundowner? Another plane thread...

Be care if you decide to try out a C177. After experiencing the view and layout of the Cardinal, you'll never enjoy a 172 again.:)

2nd weekend in a row TFRd by Trump :(

Sorry to break it to you, but this weekend isn't looking too great either... VIP Notice- Palm Beach, FL (02/17-02/20) Notice Number: NOTC7044 I'm sure you can always argue there wasn't a TFR, as an alternative fact.

    PPL Checkride Experience?

I you think you are ready, then you are ready. Your checkride is like your marriage proposal: If you don't already know the answer, then you have no business asking the question.

    Will General Aviation Survive

When it comes to cost, there are also two trains of thought: 1) Do I want to meet the bare butts minimum to get into the air with your family? or 2) Do I want to do a little more? Sure you can do it in bare minimum 40-45 hours, but I doubt that includes multiple cross countries, instrument...

    Will General Aviation Survive

By the sound of it, flight schools are killing the hobby. I don't even fully understand what they do to justify their cost, or even their existence. The CFI does all the work, and you can get a VERY good, experienced CFI for half the price by simply employing him directly.

    Good news for a change

I saw that too. Maybe they meant to type fuel pressure?

    Will General Aviation Survive

What is killing GA? Take your pick: 1)Increased road capacity -- shorter distances at higher speeds 2)Luxury cars -- comfy cars 3)"Wimping" of our population -- You can't even buy a coffee mug without a warning label. 4)Over working -- lack of free time to pursue dreams 4.1)Over stimulation --...

    Cross-Wind Determination

From the 1968 Cessna Cardinal Owner's Manual "The maximum allowable crosswind velocity is dependent upon pilot capability rather than airplane limitations. With average pilot technique, direct crosswinds of 15MPH can be handled safely." Remeber, this is a 1968 Owner's Manual, which is all of...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Passed my check ride Friday! It was much smoother than I anticipated, it felt more like a flight lesson than an exam. Only hiccup was that my attitude indicator was stuck! Of all the times. Examiner emphasized that it isn't required equipment for VFR and he was fine with proceeding if I...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Had to push my checkride that was supposed to be today. Weather at the exam airport will be fine. Unfortunately my airport is stuck under IFR/MVFR until just before the exam. Hopefully Friday serves me better.

Flew Long Solo Cross Country Yesterday

You know what they say, great minds think alike. :D I spent most of my time working on the west side. The east side FBO opened during my senior year I believe. Man was that an upgrade.

    Taxi Or Backtaxi?

I've never been in this situation (I'm still a student). Could you not tune into the untowered airfield on your second radio and transmit your intentions to land at the untowered airfield, all while still in communication with the Class C tower?

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Finally got around to taking my written exam. I passed and all, but I have to say that a couple of the questions were garbage questions with garbage answers. For instance: "When could a pilot be concerned about wing loading"? A) Sitting on the taxiway. (or something to this effect) B) While...

Why doesn't the FAA want GA to become more mainstream?

Why is everything airplane related expensive/slow to advance? Simple. In July 2016, Toyota sold 34,122 Camry models in the United States. That's one month, 31 days. Since 1955, Cessna has sold ~43,000 172 models around the world. That's 61 years.

Where do you complete your run-up?

Is that really enough time for the "run-up" to uncover any potential issues? Seems more like going through the motion to me.
