    ForeFlight 10.2

I really like Foreflight, each upgrade is making it better and better i my opinion. It is very polished. A good deal for what you get. In 5 years ForeFlight will still be around, I do not think I can say the same for the others except maybe the Garmin pilot flight bag. I do not want to waste...

Thoughts on places to stop between MYF and MDW?

That looks like a great route to me, good places to eat on the actual airfield, a pretty direct flight, Note: the Diversion to PNC only adds 18 minuets to this flight plan to a non towered airport, with a restaurant on the field and relatively cheap full-service fuel, you can eat while you...

Question for the controllers: Altimeter setting

If on flight following and Tracon has given you an altimeter setting 30 miles out, when do you change your altimeter to the final destination airport? The airport altimeter setting is given is often different than the final destination airport. I change my altimeter setting to the final...

    Another Foreflight question

The reason I even brought this up was my experience in comparing a certified g1000 to an uncertified FF product and how closely they correlated during a 10 to 15 knot, on the ground, flight while doing all the turns and altitude changes in several different approaches and holding patterns. FF M...

    Another Foreflight question

They do not have actual winds aloft, but an approximation, which is probably good for the calculations. How are winds aloft used in NavLog calculations? Wind Aloft information is derived from the ForeFlight Global Winds engine. This allows us to provide winds aloft forecasts for any point on...

    Another Foreflight question

Maybe since FF downloads the winds aloft data at different altitudes and FF has the current metar data live, maybe it is incorporateing and calculating all the raw data into the “magnetic heading/track” it would be a relatively simple calculation considering they have all the needed data. It...

    Another Foreflight question

I think you are correct, it was just really unusual how closely it matched and I was unsure if the Stratus had a magnetometer or not.

    Another Foreflight question

Look at number 4 on the Garmin screen shot (108 degrees), bottom picture compared to the top picture which is FF. Notice that Garmin uses “current heading” not current track. I think that FF is also giving a heading and not a track. Note: I did not see heading in the FF manuel, but my...

    Another Foreflight question

What I am saying is the magnetometer of the GPS 1000 AHRS gives a heading output and that number was exactly the same as the ForeFlight “magnetic heading number” which everyone uses as a heading indicator for the g1000. Garmin is calling it a “heading indicator” not a track.

    Another Foreflight question

When in actual flight while using the Stratus 2S, the heading indicator (split screen) will automatically switch from true north to magnetic north.

    Another Foreflight question

I was told to always use my compass, because FF my not be accurate.

    Another Foreflight question

ForeFlight to set Heading Indicator I have always used my old liquid compass to set my steam gauge heading indicator, even though my liquid compass has many known different errors depending on which direction I am pointed, if I was accelerating or decelerating, turning north or south etc...

    Foreflight 10.1 Released...

One thing FF could do which would be really nice is filter the airports with 24 hour self service/ full service gas for those times that you are diverting in flight and would like a place to fill up and regroup after 5pm. Another upgrade feature is current wind direction on approach plate...

ForeFlight Customers Invited to Participate in Mobile Clearance Delivery Testing

I like how ForeFlight gives you the expected clearance on all ifr filed flight plans. When you call clearance delivery, it seems correct most of the time.

    Bo vs. Arrow

One thing that about the pa 24 is the back seat is bench seating. My wife will climb in the back seat, lay down and take a nap. It is very comfortable. The back bench is actually 42" wide and flat. In my opinion, bench seating is much better than the modern day, individual single seats based...

Should All Certified Airplane Default to the Experimental Category After 20 Years?

In my opinion, after 20 Years all Certified Airplanes should be placed under the FAA experimental category. In reality that is what they are now, the original manufacturer usually does not want anything to do with these antique aircraft and/or they have stopped producing that make and model...

JetBlue Pilot Assists Cirrus Pilot on an ILS

Great job in helping the pilot getting down on the ground safely. Little things like, fly the plane and making sure he had good air speed can make a huge difference.
