    Reasonable IR checkride question?

My opinion is this DPE is "dickish". Yes, you should know where to find this information but I would consider the FIKI question a "trick" question which in my opinion, is not acceptable. This is the kind of guy that would ask where you put the deicing fluid in Cessna 150. Knowing what I know...

    Turbine Bonanza

The bush pilot I know in Canada put a turbine on a De Havilland Beaver. I don't know what the fuel burn is but boy can that thing climb, even fully loaded.

    Instrument Checkride Passed!

Good job!!! I found that the IFR just makes me feel more comfortable in flight. I don't have to worry so much about a few clouds here and there, I have much better radio skills and I'm just a better pilot.

Night IFR, a whole new ballgame

Thanks for the pirep. I recently did several night landings for commercial qualifications and I was surprised myself at how hard it is to see the instruments and buttons in the dark. I was glad my dad came along to help. I had never thought about the red "washing" out some colors but that makes...

    Looks like Mooney is Back.........Again

I have no problem with Mooney but how in the world can a company only deliver 1 plane per month and expect to make any money? No wonder they cost so much.

    Night pattern work

Got it. Thanks! I guess that means I have to find a CFI that wants me to buy them dinner.

    Night pattern work

Same with me. 250 hours since 1990 (I know, not much but I'm working on it) and I could only find 5 landings at towered airports at night.

    Night pattern work

Do those have to be dual? I don't see that in 61.129. Just that you have to have them.

    Night pattern work

I'm working towards my commercial so last night I flew to a little Class D 65 miles away to finish getting my night landings. I have to say, it's been a long time since I did that many landings at once. It was good to get some pattern work in. It was obvious that I needed that. The first couple...

    John had some work done..

I just watched those not that long ago and thought the same thing. He's about as corney as the other 2 but in his own way.

    SkyBeacon vs. TailBeacon?

My A&P just got a Skybeacon for his Warrior. I figure if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. I'm not in a situation where I need it yet but I'll probably get one so I don't have to worry about it in the future.

    Instrument Checkride?

Just got my instrument rated a few months ago. The DME told me he would not try and "trick" me on anything and just treat this as another flight. If I made a mistake, just fix it. Don't tell him I made a mistake, he already knows. He also told me to use my iPad, phone, etc and back it up with...

    Next Step?

I'd say youtube. I don't know of any video programs for the flying part. Compared to the written test, there's a lot less memorization during the flying. It's more of just practice to master the maneuvers.

This time I was "that guy"

Nope. Home airport and I "knew" the frequency. Just a stupid mistake on my part. Wish I could blame something else but this was just plain my fault.

This time I was "that guy"

Had my hand on the throttle. Every landing is a go around until it's not.
