    Buying A Piper Seneca II

FIKI (because of two icing scares), turbo (for mitigating some weather and airspace), and the redundancy for open water ops (thinking of some Caribbean flying in the future). Also, the older I become and the more I start flying my family around, I realize that nighttime, in weather, and over...

    Buying A Piper Seneca II

Did you ever buy the Seneca? I'm casually shopping for one at the moment. If I do decide to buy, I would have a decent PA32R for sale...

ADS-B required under Class C outer layer?

Yeah, but that answered my particular part of the question. Local flight school brought up the question as it relates to on-demand exemptions...

    GTN 650 or 750?

Dang right! It almost came off after it got hot and bubbled, but I smoothed it back out. Gotta keep it fresh you know?! ;)

ADS-B required under Class C outer layer?

I think I found the answer to my question, even though this isn't what I was looking for when I found it, lol: Can I get a one-time deviation from the requirement? 14 CFR § 91.225 subparagraph (g) states: Requests for air traffic control (ATC) authorized deviations from the requirements of...

    GTN 650 or 750?

It's WAAAAAAAY easier...easier than even if you have the 750. Best $1,200 I've ever spent...at least in term of avionics. But even with the 650, it only takes a little practice to get used to the way the 650 requires you to scroll through the alphabet.

ADS-B required under Class C outer layer?

Maybe I'm thinking about aircraft without a radio. Sorry. We have been having a conversation about aircraft that aren't ADS-B equipped when 2020 rolls around though and whether or not there will be a change forthcoming.

ADS-B required under Class C outer layer?

Are you required to phone ahead, similar to regs for other aircraft not equipped with a Mode C transponder currently in other places? Seriously curious. A similar conversation has been being had down at our local flight school.

[Ohio] State tax dept wants purchase price info so they can tax me...

Your understanding is somewhat correct. The Tennessee Aeronautics Commission (TAC) is tasked with making recommendations/decisions on where the TEF money and the FAA entitlement money (two different pots) goes. In terms of GA, each NPIAS airport in TN is allotted $150,000.00 per year (through...

    GTN 650 or 750?

Big screen you say? Or for less money you can go the route I did and do the poor man's MFD. Cross connected to the GTN and GTX, so all my information is doubled onto it like it is on the GTN...AND I have XM Radio available now too! ;) Other than that, only if it's really bumpy do you maybe...

[Ohio] State tax dept wants purchase price info so they can tax me...

I already said that in the past, use tax payments have not gone back to aviation. We are currently trying to change that so that payments go directly back to funding improvements for airports where those aircraft reside. We (TAA) feel that is the best use for an aviation generated tax. And...

ADS-B required under Class C outer layer?

Interesting...I did not know that! Glad I'm already equipped though! Speaking of, I haven't tried to see if I'm getting the new ADS-B In information yet. Anyone know if it's available yet? https://www.flyingmag.com/new-free-weather-products-coming-soon-to-ads-b-feed

[Ohio] State tax dept wants purchase price info so they can tax me...

Funny, in my experience, TN has done the most for their airports. The 4.5% aviation fuel tax that goes directly back to airports in TN (including GA) is not even close to "almost nothing". For years that equated to $40 million going back to airports ($20 million specifically for GA airports)...

Want To Buy N/A Lance Cowl

I figured you just ordered the parts from them and the owner was responsible for finding an A&P to do the work. Either that particular shop or the owner would still have them. It's a great idea, but I just wouldn't know how to track that down. Suppose I could inquire with them though.

Want To Buy N/A Lance Cowl

Can't afford that solution, although I do love how it looks. Not familiar with Yankee Aviation. How do you know they have one?

Want To Buy N/A Lance Cowl

If anyone knows of a complete (stock) cowl out there for sale, please send the info my way. Was going to buy one, but missed out I think. Preferably interested in both parts that came from the factor together on one aircraft.

    GTX345 questions

In that instance, the Bluetooth in the GTX345 would be disabled and signal routed through the Flightstream (if it's a 510 that is). On bootup, the iPad would connect to the Flightstream initially through a WiFi signal. This occurs so that you can transfer/update your database on the GTN. Once...

    GTX345 questions

This also depends on what other equipment you have in the aircraft. If you have a GTN with Flightstream, it's still Bluetooth, but it's handled a little differently.

Chattanooga KCHA Last Week of May

Oh yeah, I know Chris over there...very nice guy. Give me a heads up if you end up needing to be here. Got hangar space if you need it, and of course you know we can help you with the rental car.
