The gentleman I bought the plane from had the unit hardwired into the aircraft's electrical system, so that's what you are seeing with the loose ends. This is why this one is a "what you see is what you get" item.

I had that thought for all of about 1/2 a second, then let it go...he did tell me that they didn't have any current plans to sell, but if they changed their minds, I would be the first to know. That made me happy.

I believe you are exactly correct on what they were doing. I'd be interested in trying it if it weren't so darn expensive to obtain everything required! lol

Trying to remember, but I think there is a setting change within the software required at the time of "installation". You also have to be running a minimum software update for it to work, and unless you're experimental, a Garmin shop has to do that update. I mean, if you know how to on the DL...

I've "heard" of another shop being able to do this, but cannot verify it. I would assume that there would be a device used for the G500 suite that could convert information...at least that's what I was told on how they made it work. I know next to nothing about the information being supplied...

Already had my Lance done last October and the Seneca is getting done right now. So far, pretty smooth experience. Lance was a lot more in depth than what the Seneca is getting.
