I started one of those big blue logbooks they sell at UPT bases when it was at CAFB for pilot training. I figured I’d eventually stop or forget it on a deployment, lose it or something but I kept at it and have every flight from my 21 years of military aviation in there. I don’t know if my...
Thanks for reviving the thread, I enjoyed reading through it this am. I’ll add a few too.

Congrats on jumping in. There will be bumps in the road but your attitude will keep it moving. Thanks for the update, we’re rooting for you. Good luck!

Wow, that’s a mighty big chip on your shoulder!
If you could stow the auto-hatred of all 11F types for a few before default flaming we could clear up a few misunderstandings…
I know several guys who have asked for AETC assignments for exactly that - QOL is generally way better...
When I was a SQ/CC in the ANG, we had hundreds of apps for every slot. (Fighters)
I spoke with the T-6 leadership and they said there are little to no fighter pilots in the T6 and most of the IPs talk about how bad the fighter lifestyle is (as if they know) which is driving a lot of folks away...
1.) Go to Baseops.net
2.) Resist any temptation to ask a question because they have ALL been asked many times. (search function is your friend)

Hey…..I’m a fighter pilot that owns a bonanza. :)
I’m also a Bonanza owner that can’t roll my eyes hard enough when Bonanza owners say “the 35/33 flies more like a fighter”.:cool:
To each his own. I flew the Eagle for two decades and every aerobatic airplane I’ve flown in has been ho-hum apart from the Gamebird. I haven’t flown them all of course.
IMO, nothing in the GA world will touch what I used to fly so for me it was time to change gears. I love flying Super Cubs in...
Nah. We get plenty of that at work. I haven’t flown fighters in over three years and the novelty of going upside down is ALMOST back to interesting. It’s just apples and oranges.
I bought my first airplane when I was a major and had been flying nothing but fighters for the previous 17 years. Good advice above, define the mission first then figure out the airplane.
PM me if you want to talk differences or shoot the proverbial watch.
Idaho hangars and hangar ground is 100% pure unobtanium these days Unless you are in the middle of nowhere. (then it’s just ridiculous prices…) The new build hangars in the Boise valley are $185/sq’+
I know I’m the retired guy now but when I was the FS/CC less than 4 years ago, we NEVER put FOL or ground crew out people at a non-tactical base like Dover. it just doesn’t make sense. Barnes could turn us if we really needed to land, but I don’t think the OP understands the extra footprint...
