    Watches In the Cockpit (photos)

Thankfully I retired before they made me fly that sorry excuse for a fighter.

    Watches In the Cockpit (photos)

My only problem is that I’m not sure Brietling will be making anymore of these. The F-15 is on its way out of service. I know they don’t make the Airwolf anymore but the last order I knew about you needed 25 watches to get the order filled. That’s a lot of $$ at $3k+ reach. (Airline pilots are...

    Watches In the Cockpit (photos)

I used to wear a Brietling Airwolf (Eagle Driver edition) in the cockpit and can only find this pic. Then we got issued Garmin watches that will buzz if the cabin altitude gets too high so we all started wearing those. Now I’m back to an old G shock most of the time. I don’t want my...

Congrats on an awesome career - that would be a highlight for sure! The IOM must've been an incredible experience. For those of you who don't know, the Northwest 200 is another road race that is an amazing spectacle. https://www.northwest200.org/

NOTAMS and Restricted Areas By NOTAM On ForeFlight???

One of the problems with an automated system like that is that MOAs and RA's are only hot when being used. Sometimes missions are changed, cancelled or delayed with very short notice. The automated system wouldn't know that because most of the time those areas aren't activated until the flight...

ADS-B Out and Passive Radar Homing Missile

You can always call any of the coastline approach freq's and ask them about the status of the W-areas. They'll know if it's active.

ADS-B Out and Passive Radar Homing Missile

The radar doesn't cause that to happen, the IFF interrogator does. Radar and transponders work in different frequencies.

    OSH 2021

Bring it. Bring lots. there’s also the beer tent or Friar Tuck’s. FT’s is out through the N 40 outside the fence next to the hotel. The beer tent is near the exit closest to the tower. Look for a big yellow balloon.

    “You Can’t Terminate FF”

I will say that the last few times I’ve gone into Knoxville, they are terrible at traffic sequencing. Lots of vectors that needlessly cause traffic conflicts that wouldn’t have been there if they weren’t involved. I was very frustrated with their performance. edit** Before someone yells at me...

Still do, just a lot bigger and slower. ;)

    Twin or Single

I have a Bo and don't plan on a twin anytime soon but several of my friends have them and most of my flying time is in twin engine aircraft. I can tell that either you don't fly twins or had a bad experience with them. The first two points are a wash IMO. The third - if you burn 2x the fuel...

    Any military aviators on here?

Yes, sort of. The 45 is the "strike track" trainer for the second half of pilot training. After T-45, students get their wings then go on to train in their fleet jet (F-35 or F-18's) at the school house for their jet. So the T-45 is like the USAF's T-38 in that you have to fly that to end up...

    Meridian doesn't have 18's, all T-45's there.

Military pilots, looking for info for my son

Yep, super hard to get quality young guys. It's really hard to make people understand that after 3 years of the pipeline and 3 years (roughly) of seasoning orders, that a young fighter pilot is still not very good. (6 years into full-time flying) There's such a depth of knowledge and skill...

Military pilots, looking for info for my son

I just retired from the ANG. The competition for fighter slots is at an all time high. There are good and bad things about going ANG off the street. It's likely not going to be a stroll into the local A-10 unit and they have a slot waiting for him. He needs to get the AFOQT and TBAS tests...
