    I'm confused

It is easy to pick on feds. They have a difficult job and fortunately most of them do it well. Unfortunately some do not. How many of us remember when some of them decided that plastic laminating the old paper certificates was deemed as an illegal alteration/modification? Know your rights...

Pilot Awarded $300K for False Arrest

Somehow $300K seems way over and above what is reasonable. Especially considering Greenwood Village PD destroyed an innocent party's $500K+ house while flushing out a criminal who broke into the home to escape LE. The courts ruled the police were performing their duties therefore not liable.

Pilot Awarded $300K for False Arrest

Hmm nothing about this on local (Denver) news maybe they will pick it up soon. Glad to hear he prevailed!

    I'm confused

Ignorance of the law is not a defense. I used to hate business trips to the DC area because CO allows right turn on red after a full stop unless there is a sign prohibiting it. In DC one state allowed this, another state prohibited it at all times, and the district or one of the other states...

    Thank a Veteran today

To all who have served thank you! My 22 years active duty and reserve service encapsulate some of my fondest, most cherished memories and some of the absolute worst experiences of my life. Some of the women and men with whom I served are or were the best examples of courage, leadership, and...

    Electric Airplanes?

Interesting discussion so far. A local company is developing a 2 seat electric trainer that looks vert promising and, according to their spokesman at Red Bird Migration is starting development of a 4 seat airframe. They have great ideas and hopefully will succeed. The tall pole in the tent is...

Engage Dr Chien! He is very nice, incredibly supportive, and frank. If there is a way to legally accomplish your goal he will help you figure it out. Go checkout some of Denverpilot's posts re his condition and Dr Chien's help. Accept only accurate advice from the horses mouth. Good luck!

    David Clark headsets

DC's customer service has been outstanding! I have an older 10-30 and one of their first ENC units. Most of the damage to both units has been my fault but only problem with ENC was a malfunction. Regardless, repairs have been free and fast. The ENC unit was great and worked incredibly well...

How much longer to fix the 737 Max

The amount of flagellation Boeing has been subjected to is disgusting. Remember the problems with Airbus and their fly by wire system? One of their most senior pilots planted one because he thought he was doing a gear and flaps down low flyby and the airplane decided to land itself. There...

When does it become "Mountain Flying"?

Hi Murphey hope life is treating you kindly! I've been under the weather but am finally starting to feel better. Although much of the local terrain is flat it is still at or above 5,000 MSL which the FAA defines as mountainous. Once I am feeling better and caught up on things that have piled...

    Embry-Riddle vs FBO/local

ERAU's program is not for everyone. If you have decided this is true for you then choose a different path. Or dedicate yourself to following their path. Unfortunately, there are no clearly discernible milestones or methodologies for predicting the future. 911 was a huge disruption to many...

When does it become "Mountain Flying"?

Have to do some research for chapter and verse but somewhere the FAA defines mountainous terrain as either at or above 5,000 MSL. Your route looks good for the trip you discussed. Lots of good advice by other posters too! Have a good time.

Drug DUI arrests based on cops’ opinions alone.

Suppose the officer is going to ticket you based on a field sobriety test (walking a straight line, the eye movement test...nystagmas I think it is called, or some other test that does not involve measuring BAC electronically or test equipment)? Should you insist on an equipment based...

    Resetting tripped circuit breaker

Just curious, how many times will you reset a tripped breaker while in flight? Scenario, below FL240 and you are not planning an approach requiring DME its breaker trips. No smoke, odor, or sign of failure or problem. You wait a few minutes, reset it and it trips immediately. Reset or leave...
