    DL valid for ID?

The REAL ID act specifies that a compliant ID is required for official purposes, in the act that is defined as : ``Official purpose'' is defined under Sec. 201 of the Act to include access to Federal facilities, boarding Federally-regulated commercial aircraft, entry into nuclear power plants...

Those ramp fee rip off FBOs. Maybe not.

Most airports owned by a city are operated as an enterprise fund. Money that is made at the airport can only be spent on the airport, it does not go into the general revenue fund for the city to spend however it wants...

    Mowing Time

The only reason I would start my mower that early would be because my neighbor had been out making noise until late at night. Although I can usually find something to make more noise than the mower. My neighbor drunkenly decided that the best time to shoot off his remaining fireworks was between...

    Private Pilot Checkride VOR requirements

Just last year the FAA made it clear that onboard (handheld) devices were acceptable. https://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/airline_operators/airline_safety/info/all_infos/media/2017/InFO17003.pdf Maybe the “older” instructor is more up to date on current FAA policy than some POA...

    Commercial versus Instrument Rating

No longer in NPRM, the final rule was released on June 27th. That portion of the rule goes into effect on August 27th. In § 61.129: ■ a. Effective August 27, 2018, revise paragraphs (a)(3)(ii) and (b)(3)(ii); ■ b. Effective July 27, 2018, in paragraphs (c)(3)(i), (d) introductory text...

    Commercial versus Instrument Rating

Based on the new changes to the FARs that were released, after Aug 27th you can use 10 hours of training in a TAA to replace the 10 hours of training in a complex aircraft. As long as your checkride is after that date you will not have to have any retract time for Commercial.

I believe this is a mandatory pic.

Yes 23.2135 is the FAR that covers it now. I would use AC 23-8C to explain that is how VMC was defined when the plane went through certification.

I believe this is a mandatory pic.

23.149 hasn’t existed since August 30th of last year. If it’s in your FARs book then it’s time to buy a new one. And hopefully your MEI is also aware of that.

    Part 61 Revisions are Here

If they are going to lie in their logbook why would they log fake approaches in a sim? If I was going to falsify time in my logbook I would log that I flew approaches in my plane with a safety pilot even though the plane never left the hangar. If I’m falsifying documents to get currency why...

    Scheduling Instructor Checkride Help

I don’t see a similar link on the North Texas FSDO page. Orlando might be unique in how they handle setting up initial CFI checkrides.

    Scheduling Instructor Checkride Help

The Orlando FSDO has you fill out a form online requesting an initial CFI checkride. They then assign a DPE to do your checkride. That takes two weeks and they send you an email telling you which DPE has been assigned. Then you contact the DPE and schedule the checkride with him. Depending on...

    Safety pilot question

Here are a couple of legal interpretations from the FAA that clarify what can be logged. The first one talks about what can be logged by each pilot while you are under the hood...

    Safety pilot question

The safety pilot can also log the 2 hours you were under the hood as PIC. Despite what Greg said there is a provision that allows him to log PIC while you were the sole manipulator. 61.51 e) Logging pilot-in-command flight time. (1) A sport, recreational, private, commercial, or airline...
