    App billing

And if you buy the app and dislike it for a specific period you can easily request a full refund from Apple... not sure if this works with subscriptions...

    Flying in Lafayette Indiana

Please mind that if you have an EASA license, it will take some work to get your FAA IR to EASA IR. I think you need to do something like 3 theoretical exames + 10hr sim + 5hr plane.

different clubs calculation of flying time/rental price

My club where I fly the most has a, in my eyes, good policy. They have a slightly higher rental fee for their aircraft but only calculate airtime. The thought behind this is that you should take all the time to warm up the engine and do your checks in stead of rushing it to save some $$. So that...

    Angela Merkel's A340 NORDO?

They are suspecting it to be sabotage... EDIT: The German airforce just said there was no sabotage.

    Problems with FAA mailing certificate

https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/certificate_replacement/ According to their site it does not really matter. There is also a part about foreign verification.... Update: I received the second try in the mail after 1 month :-) !

    Problems with FAA mailing certificate

Hi guys, So I finished the whole Foreign based PPL certification process, went to the US to have it verified (FSDO cancelled appointment because they closed for some reason, 1 day before...) but OK all finished and they mailed my certificate. The problem is now that they mailed the first...

    Best sunglasses for flying!

I use Serengeti for years. They are small and open your ANR headset just a very little. The lenses of mine are non polarized and slightly brownish. I have the feeling that I can see way more in hazy days when the sun is shining.

If They Can Make a GoPro Waterproof Using a Simple Gasket...

Try in the mornings to schedule (online) the latest day in the schedule... I had this same issue but when I finally got a slot at 12:00 they were able to fix it before 16:30 !

If They Can Make a GoPro Waterproof Using a Simple Gasket...

I just had the battery in my 7 replaced for only $29 at the Apple store. They have this lower pricing till end of the year.. because of all the "reduced performance" issues a few months ago. For $29 I don't want to do it myself risking to break the whole thing :). Good to go for at least 1.5 to...

    QNH

Correct! Everyone in Europe flies on QNH (except US military and some US leased military aircraft). We don't know "alimeter settings" here. So aerodome A is 800 ft AMSL and aerodrome B is 500 ft AMSL. They assume 1 MB = 30 ft (That is one like QNH 1001, 1002) in ISA conditions. Difference...

    Why 100LL Substitute????

In Europa we are started to use UL91 more and more, it is somewhere between MOGAS and AVGAS. There are 172's and 182's flying on it... but I heard that it is not the best solution for high performance engines. Funny thing that here in the Netherlands the price difference between AVgas and UL91...

    Cessna 182 Diesel Conversion

The whole 1.7 engine was a fiasco. It was/is (are there still planes flying with it?) a very unrealiable engine with a lot of difficulties and engine related accidents. What I learned is that the engine was a converted Mercedes Benz engine with being constantly fully loaded, way more heavy then...

    New Personal Records

My record is 162kts GS with 95kts indicated on 8000ft in a C172... Felt like a rocket... until I needed to partly turn into the wind over mountainous terrain for landing haha!

    Mounting iPad in a C172

I prefer to mount it at the right seat, somewhere to the right corner of the window. Mind that you have full control without hitting the iPAD. This makes the visibility decrease reasonable small and will not overlead your working area on the left seat.

    Cessna 182 Diesel Conversion

Yeah got that, but is it built from Mercedes Benz engines like Centurion/thielert does? Or completely new developed?

    Cessna 182 Diesel Conversion

After my small diesel 'incident' a few years ago (Thielert/Centurion 1.7) I rather keep flying on AVgas... What diesels deliver 260hp in the 182?

    Buying into fractional ownership

How did you become interested in Aviation?

I lived close to a airforce field (underneath "downwind") ... so had F-16's flying over a lot... Started off with gliders, didn't liked it as it was working all day for just a few minutes of airtime.. When I earned enough $$$ I went to powered flying.
