    DG adjustment knob stuck in

Hi All, Today noticed that my directional gyros adjustment knob is not popping out, but stuck in the adjust position. As such it does not turn and makes my DG inop. I can pull it out buy hand but the spring pulls it back in of course. As such, any quick things to check before I call the mechanic?

    Cheapest way to commercial?

Thanks for the info everyone! Yes, pilots n paws is likely in the future, especially once the instrument rating is done so I'm not as much of a slave to the weather. I have considered the freight or entry level type scheduled jobs too. I'm based outside Atlanta so it's a unique opportunity...

    Cheapest way to commercial?

Thanks everyone! Seems like my ideas are pretty straight forward. I have a good CFI I'm working with that has a reasonable rate, and we have 2 other guys at about the same process as me, so we all should be able to act as safety pilots and build hours together. Now it's just a matter of...

    Cheapest way to commercial?

Hi All, Currently been flying for about a year, and am trying to take the plunge to professional flying. I'm 28 and have a career in sales right now, but I know that this is not what I want for the future. I have about 50 hours now and will be starting my instrument training at the end of the...

    Mounting iPad in a C172

I use a cheap suction cup mount on the right side of the windshield for my ipad mini. It's still close enough to easily view and reach, but blocks no instruments and I'm not looking down at the yoke to use it.

    Clogged Pitot Tube?

I'm having some trouble with my airspeed indicator, and I'm about at wits end with it now! About 3 weeks ago it was reading 10 knots or so higher than normal. Had it rebuilt and that seemed to fix the problem. Went to fly it for the first time since today, pulled it out of the hangar, and the...

    Operating temp question

Thanks! Yes at this point I'm only running on the original 1966 oil temp gauge. I will hopefully be adding at least a basic digital cht/egt/oil temp at annual this year so I can get a better idea of what's going on.

    Operating temp question

Took my plane out today for a cross country flight. Flew about 3 hours. Ground temps were between 85 and 95, flew pretty low, about 2500-3000 MSL. I noticed oil temp was running a bit hotter than normal. It wasnt in the red but I would say it was 90% of the way there. Pressure was good (top...

    Unconventional Student

There is a guy at our field (KJCA) that has a Rans s-12 he uses for ultralight training. Atlanta Sport Flying is the name of his business. Does mostly trikes but would be worth a shot if you're anywhere close.

A&P Mechanics in the Atlanta area

I fly out of Jackson County (JCA), and I'll second Max Allen. He is a great guy to deal with and knows his stuff.

How much airplane can you get for $1,000 monthly budget?

I think 1000 a month is actually do-able. Here's my budget for the C172 I just bought. It's an older G model but has a 450 hour engine in it so should last me as long as I need for the future! I think my saving grace is my tie downs. I know some say it is a death sentence for a plane, but I...
