improper and incorrect medical records that might bite you

Several months ago I was called by the billing department for a local hospital to confirm my billing address for my "ER visit" at a new hospital in town. The trouble is that I was never there. I asked what I was treated for and they could not tell me because "how do we know you are you?"...

    Almost busted Bravo airspace

Same thing for me climbing out of KPTK in Michigan. I noticed about 200’ before and got the climb stopped. That was before my IR. Now I file IFR for most trips.

    You lost another Mooney, Alexei?

Pilot was 83 and had lived there 20 years so presumably was very familiar with the airport. Medical problem??

What is the demand for CFI who teaches upset recovery/aerobatics?

When I was earning my CFI, I got my spin endorsement in a 172. We spun that airplane a bunch of times. I had done them previously in a Decathlon but most CFIs that I know did them in a 172. It closer to what most students will be learning in. BTW, as a CFI, I do it part time and have a full...

How do you casually mention that you own an airplane without coming off like a ****?

I had the same issue with CitiBank. They would not send a replacement card to Mauritius. I had to pick it up two weeks later in Dubai. They sent it to “Dubai, Saudi Arabia”. When I finally received the envelope, Saudi Arabia had been crossed out and someone had scrawled, “Try UAE”.

How do you casually mention that you own an airplane without coming off like a ****?

I used to live next door to an embassy of a southeast Asian country. Our clothes line ran along the brick wall separating us from the embassy. On top of the wall was barbed wire. One night, during a big windstorm, my pants (that had been hung out to dry) got tangled and ripped in the barbed...

Where does the FAA find your medical info from?

Just report it. I reported a visit to a doctor in Iran about 10 years ago (when it was within the 3-year window). There is honestly no way the FAA would ever know that I went to the ER there (food poisoning), but I reported it. Obviously I paid cash as US insurance does not work in Iran (nor do...

    Comm Rating

if you let it expire, then you do need another checkride. If you renew before expiration, there are several different ways to renew such as a FIRC.

    Pre-Solo Written test

How far in advance of soloing are CFIs here giving their students the pre-solo written test? Do you let them take it home or are they doing it all it front of you? Mine had me do it in front of him, but I can't see myself doing it that way. :)

Two dui arrests and a public intoxication charge.

Now would be a good time to quit all alcohol for the rest of your life. Nothing good comes from it (as you have seen). There is a way forward most likely, but it is a long and expensive one. Good luck to you.

Does ground/clearance delivery know the phrase "learner pilot"?

Only the FAA is pushing the change from student to learner. When I am sitting around the office with other CFIs, we talk about students, not learners.

Does ground/clearance delivery know the phrase "learner pilot"?

Your green plastic card does not say “Learner Pilot”.

    Filing a NASA report

Note that the description of the event you put in is not private so saying "Busted airspace" is not a good idea. Saying "airspace situation" is better.
