Reminder - watch out for deer on landings at night!

8 foot high fence is the very minimum. 12 foot if you are serious about keeping them out.

GTN - Actual vs Desired Track and Heading

Your actual heading is irrelevant. Fly whatever heading you need to make the Track the same as the Desired Track. If you do that, you will stay on the magenta line, and get to whatever point you have set the magenta line to. I set up the display on my GTN 650 so DTK is on the upper left...

    Wintergreen Chewing Tobacco - DUI

So, how big were these three shots of whiskey? To get you past .15, they had to be rather generous, like 3 oz each? Either that, or you weigh 90lbs soaking wet, and they really were just 1.5oz each. Even then, seems suspicious.

182C pattern leg mp/rpms and flap degree recommendations?

Stewartb- I bet your landing roll outs are super short! I cannot imagine coming in at 60mph with flaps 40, but do wonder how you flare? Or is it a trap with a tailhook? :)

182C pattern leg mp/rpms and flap degree recommendations?

I would be a bit cautious with 70mph on final, especially if using 40 flaps. She will drop like a stone set up that way, so your flare timing better be perfect. If not, you are gonna prang the nosewheel, (and maybe bend the firewall) 80mph on short final is much better, carrying a pinch of...

Cruise Altitude Shortest Flight Time with Best Economy

I fly a 1967 182 and find the fastest true airspeed in the 6,000-8,000 ft area, typically 150-155mph on about 13gph. 10k-12K will burn less fuel, 11-12gph, but slightly slower 140-145 mph. Stock 470 engine, wheel pants, but 3 bladed McCauley prop.

    Lake Placid/Saranac Lake NY

Consider flying into Fryeburg, Maine. KIZG. Nice place, Enterprise will deliver a car there. We did a stopover for a day, drove to the top of Mt Washington etc. Lots of neat stuff in that area/ N.Conway, NH.

    Basic Med after SI

I went from a 3rd class with SI to BasicMed about 2 years ago, and it was very easy. Not sure that it would be to go back to a third class, but probably not that much different than what a "normal" renewal would be. Also, your Dr. does not have to perform the rectal exam for the BasicMed...

    Petit Jean

I was there back in late June, airport was literally locked up/ deserted. The gate across the parking lot was locked. :( We had flown into Hot Springs and drove to Petit Jean. Nice runway, ramp and rather new fuel farm, which doesn't work/ is turned off. I have no idea why the state of...

What is up with the prices of old spam cans?

Don't forget, BasicMed has also increased demand, as more "experienced" pilots who would have gone sport pilot, or not flown at all are able to fly a certified plane.

    182A Battery Issue

Don- Also, don't forget what it will do to the balance portion of your w&b. Our 1967 182 with full fuel and two big guys is close to the forward max CG. (We do also have a heavier 3 bladed prop) I would not want to move the battery up front, making landings even trickier..... :(

    Commander thoughts

Gary- For some reason Cessna decided to measure the 182 cabin width from the front door posts, not from the side of the door where the armrest meets. THAT is where the true width lies, and it is 46" total. Still not as wide as the 112A, but much closer. :)

Intercepting ILS final approach course, do I have to descend right away?

Hold 3,000 until the glideslope comes in, then follow it down. Easy peasy. Obviously at 3K the GS is going to be further out from the outer marker than it will at 2,000, so if you are already past it at 3K, and do nothing you won't ever intercept it. :)

When ordering seats from Airtex or similar, what are you receiving?

Holy thread resurrection! It appears Ahkahn hasn't been on POA since sometime in 2017...so you all might not get a recommendation for a shop....
