    Eric Marcus Municipal Airport? P01

Has anyone here ever flown into P01? This was an interesting write up by a guy that flew there back in 2010. It's tucked in the corner of some restricted airspace. You can get clearance to fly in, but you follow a state highway at 500' AGL for about 35 miles. Seems like a fun flight to try...

    Question on Constant Speed Propellers

OK, so I was thinking that I could leave the mixture alone because in my hypothetical scenario, I'd be climbing, so the mixture would not need to be enrichened because I'd be climbing to thinner air. But I guess what I missed is that I'm going to be advancing the throttle, so I need more fuel...

    Question on Constant Speed Propellers

The POH lists prop speeds between 2,000 RPM and 2,400 RPM for cruise flight. That makes sense. When I did this with my CFI, I did just abruptly push it in. I should be more gradual with the changes in general, and probably make changes using the Vernier dial rather than just pushing it in.

    Question on Constant Speed Propellers

I have a question about adjusting propeller RPM with a constant speed propeller. I'm flying a 182S. I've checked the POH and I can't find info on this question. Let's say I'm flying along at 8000' at cruise. I'm trying to run fairly efficient, so I'm down at 20 in-HG manifold pressure and...

    10 Day Instrument

As an Arizona native and current resident, I would highly discourage this, but not for the reasons you're suggesting. Nobody wants to sit in a GA airplane without AC for any length of time in June here. Having said that, I did finish my private certificate in the summer time. lol

    Questions to ask perspective CFII???

I've found a few candidate CFII's and I'm going to meet with all of them to decide who I want to work with to get my IR. What are some questions I should ask? How many hours of CFII instruction do you have? How many of your students have passed their IR check-ride? What is the pass rate? What...

Any recommendations for a CFII near KCHD?

So, it turns out the instructor I had been working with before is no longer flying. I need to find a new CFII that flies out of KCHD (or close by). Can anyone make a recommendation?

I LOVE the giant 40 deg Fowler flaps in the 172. Those things are great.

Car gas and Av Gas basically the same price in LA

I'd love to be able to use Mogas, but it's just not available at all in AZ... All the car gas has ethanol in it...

    Budgeting cost of Instrument rating

In my experience, most of the savings on Hobbs vs Tach time comes from the time spent at idle taxing and waiting to take off. But you make a good point.

Car gas and Av Gas basically the same price in LA

Very interesting. I was born in, and still live in the Phoenix suburbs. There are quite a few California refugees... er... transplants that live out here. I do find it interesting that your two neighbors moved to Show Low and Payson. 30 years ago when I was in boy scouts, those were two tiny...

Car gas and Av Gas basically the same price in LA

(emphasis mine) I find it interesting that 100ll prices appear to be much more stable, and not vary as much as car-gas prices.

    Budgeting cost of Instrument rating

I'm in an equity based non-profit club. The Archer is $125 / tach hour. That averages out to ~$100 / Hobbs hour. On top of the hourly rate, you pay a monthly fee. I'm not including that in my price estimate.
