    One meal in Omaha NE

Comanche 250…. I loved the 180hp 172 I’ve owned for the last 5 years but my wife and I are traveling more and our main destination requires a fuel stop in the 172. And thanks for the restaurant suggestions!

    One meal in Omaha NE

I will be in Omaha NE one day next week to look at and hopefully purchase an airplane. Looking for something for dinner in the evening. Not 100% sure what I will be in the mood for, but here are the likely candidates: -Steak. Would want a really good steak in a somewhat casual setting. Cost...

    Manifold Pressure Source for O-200?

Barbed is fine. The fitting on the SureFly end is a barbed fitting, and the STC installation instructions reference a barbed fitting on the engine side.

Dynon Skyview HDX vs GI 275s

Works like a charm... GPS 175 is wired to an ARINC box which connects to the SkyView Network. About $30K all-in including engine monitoring and AP depending on shop. Best money I ever spent...

    Storing a pranged aircraft

A friend has a body shop. My car was in an accident and sat there several days before the insurance company declared it a total loss. I apologized that it took up space on his lot and he didn't get to repair it. His response: "no worries. Insurance companies pay me $30 a day to store cars...

    NA: Vehicle transportation service

Needing to have a vehicle I own moved from Texas to Kentucky. Googling vehicle transportation provides mostly scams and not-very-trustworthy listings. Suspect search results deliver very few actual companies, most appear to be third parties. Does anyone know of a legitimate, trustworthy...

    airliner actual weight vs GTOW?

Years ago I was flying somewhere with my mother-in-law. She was not a small woman, but not huge either--I would guess about 180-200 lbs. We were getting on an Embraer 120 (30ish passenger turboprop), which she considered to be a "small airplane." It was clearly going to be very lightly loaded...

    Surefly mag issue

SureFly SIMs are sensitive to voltage spikes. Causes them to reboot. If the problem occurs frequently enough, you could run at cruise with alternator shut off for several minutes. This would cause the unit to only get steady power from the battery. I had the same issue with one of mine early...

Regret not having VOR ability if new plane has GNX 375 instead of GTN 650?

Autoland?.. reality check. A couple of turbines with Garmin 3000 glass have that. You’re not getting this off-the-shelf. You’ll have to build this yourself if you want it. And while you’re at it build a VOR receiver into the box you just built. Easy peasey.

I just started reading the last book of a series I began many years ago.

Not really a series but three excellent books by Gavin Lyall: The Wrong Side of the Sky The Most Dangerous Game Shooting Script All 3 are heavily aviation-themed, with a pilot as the lead character. Highly recommended. All available on Kindle Unlimited.
