Legal question about public airport access

It seems they are allowing public access from the air, it's the ground he is complaining about. The airport likely rents hangers and tie down to store aircraft and charges rent to do so. These people own property that is not part of the airport and want to use the facilities of the airport...

    NA Local Police NA

Are you and your neighbors willing to see the tax increase that would be required for this model of police presence? Also while this make work fine in a urban area with high density, what about the majority of places where people live spread out in the suburbs and foot patrols just don't make...

    NA... Boomers ... NA

I find it interesting that so many young who complain about how the boomers are bigoted have no problem with painting a entire generation with one broad stroke of the brush. There is the minor issue that the youngest boomer is now 51 so it's the next generation that is making many of the laws...

Transponder should be in ALT on ground

The idea of having it come on to alt with power is that for the 327 it will transmit the last known code. That is fine in a 1200 world but in the SFRA it's not. If I could have to come on to standby so I can then put in the code and have it switch at 5 knots I would be happy with that.

I have a 327 and it switches at 30 knots. Does anyone know if this setting can be changed to say 5 knots?

62 year old with no savings?!

Technically both private and public defined benefit pensions are supposed to have the money needed invested in separate funds. In reality many don't and you will see figures like a pension liability is 60% funded. One of the issues is that when investment income is doing well then nothing...

The US Navy's Giant New Electric Railgun

I seem to recall Heinlein has this part of many of his stories, with the launch point being Pikes Peak so it could have a long enough run to not crush the cargo in the initial acceleration phase.

    PIREP on EAA Airventure Camping?

I think rain implies a gentle washing of water from the sky. That does not happen at Osh. It is clear or it is gully washing torrential downpours. None of this sissy gentle rain nonsense

    VE Day Flyover 8 May

Being in the DC area, I'm going to see how bad the TFR is, I might go up and see what I can see from a distance airborne. Otherwise I'll head downtown to see it from the ground.

RNAV approaches that are circling only?

Kanp - Annapolis, MD has a RNAV GPS circling approach. We had a approach with vertical guidance and a 440 foot minimum until they build a new Giant supermarket and the building intruded in the airspace required by the approach. I would not fly the old approach to minimum as we have a short...

The stadium is inside the surface area of BWI, no real need for a TFR.

Build Your Own LPV? (Don't get your panties in a bunch its a hypo)

My question would be this: How would ATC release you to a lower altitude for a unknown/homemade approach? Would you cancel IFR while IMC at altitude? If it's VMC then why would you need the approach? I thought there was a way to request that a approach be created to a private strip...

    Identifying private aircraft

Interesting that you would come in to a pilot group and refuse to identify yourself but ask us to identify a plane for you. As for estimating the height of the plane, you say the bluffs are 300 feet high and he comes over them. Would that not put him at higher then 500?

    Flying Cirrus Over Open Water

Congress: create a private corporation to govern the air traffic control system

I wonder why the union would think a private corporation would be better? Do they really think that a private corp would be as agreeable in wages and benefits as a government agency?
