    Social Media Rant

On the other hand I've found out about people that I know and care about via a FB post. Crash pictures for the sake of crash pix no but notifications via FB may be the best way to get the word out.

For Sale SOLD--- GNS 530W for sale

If you did not replace the tray to use the new avidyne then you my have a problem with using the avidyne tray with the 530. I have a buddy who upgraded from a 530 to the avidyne unit and he was told by our avionics shop that even though the 2 units were tray comparable, you could not use the...

    Washington SFRA

Here's my issue with it. I'm based out of a airport inside the SFRA ( KANP ) Now getting the flight plan filed and a code is no real big deal but my home field charges 5.50 for 100ll and KFME which is 7 miles away charges 4.30. If I want to go get cheap fuel when I am coming back home I must...

    Memorial Day

I don't have any family or close friends who had died in service but my father and 4 of his 5 sons who lived to be old enough to serve did so. We were all lucky to raise our right hands and offer our lives to the country but they did not extract that final service from us. I am grateful for...

    Retirement Age

The poll did not have a choice for what I and I think many others will do and that is "retire" from full time employment and switch to a part time gig. I figure I'm going to do something that brings in some income pretty much forever but will only be 10-20 hours a week. I had planned on doing...

Transponder on altitude reporting while on ground

There is also the issue for the SFRA that you must use the code they give you any time your inside the SFRA so unless you call and get a code before you start the engine you won't have a good code.

    WARNING TO ALL MALES.!!!

two similar stories. This really happened to me. About 1970 or so my younger brother and I were over at a friends house and he showed me a shock stick his mother had gotten to use to train the dogs to not crap in the house. He was all upset because he thought it was inhumane to use this...

    Trip to Disney World

If you fly into ISM then you really should go over to Warbird Adventures and fly one of their planes. It's a E Ticket for pilots. When I did it my demo pilot was a CFI so I got to log the time as dual.

IFR in actual harder day or night?

Night is fine if you are flying into a field with lots of lights but not so good if you are flying into a field that has nothing more then runway lights. I'm based at a small ( 2500 with displacements ) strip and won't fly into there at night unless the ceiling is above pattern altitude.

Lightspeed PFX vs. Zulu.2: Any PIREPs?

I demoted my 30G to the right seat when I got my Zulu and recently won a passive david clark for one of the back seats so I could trickle down one more but I don't fly with a full plane often enough to justify it.

Lightspeed PFX vs. Zulu.2: Any PIREPs?

I have Zulu.2 now and I can tell you from the demo of the PFX at Osh that they are much better. But not so much as to be worth paying 1k for a new set. If for some reason I needed to buy a new set then I would likely pay that money.

    The airport was there first....

I live about 20 miles south of the airport in the OP and fly out a airport a little farther south ( ANP ) . Story I got from my CFI about 10 years ago was that he was working on his plane one day and a guy wandered up looking a little lost. CFI asks if he can help him and the guy said he was...

    Another rare occurrence

Actually the old man did commit a crime. In Vermont the specific wording is Driving off a road laned for traffic. I was charged with it when I ran off a road and hit a tree. I did not see anything about the cop arresting the guy but rather detaining him until local cops arrived. Big difference.

Citabria down at Dare County, missed banner.

I was just down there a couple of weeks ago with the family. I saw two of the banner planes take off and make some rather abrupt moves on take off and then come swooping around in the pattern. I was getting ready to go into the FBO to report some rather bad flying when I saw them pick up the...
