Grumman Tiger, good bad and ugly

It's basically the same. There was some aerodynamic cleanup and a larger spar. I believe the "purple glue" was an issue on these and early Cheetah and Tigers. I would assume most of that has been addressed.

    KSNA C-310 Down

You should know that an insured under a policy has no control over how the insurance carrier decides to handle a loss, especially a third party action. Secondly, your "class action" suit against the "Flip or Flop" people is over a robo call? You seem to have a lot of time on your hands.

Buyer's advice: Bellanca Super Viking vs. Rockwell Commander 114

Viking is a lovely plane. You must have a pre-buy and have it maintained by one of the shops familiar with it, or else. A lot of them are in the SW due to the drier climate. I had one about 10 years ago. I have wide shoulders and found that staggering the front seats slightly made it workable...

Busted checkride - don't know where to go from here

That guy needs a beat down. Sorry you had that experience. I've had good luck with DPE's. On my private check ride things were going well until I did a power on stall in the 172 and promptly entered a spin. I recovered quickly and the DPE was a bit shaken but he said "let's try it again, this...

    Surgery and recovery

I'm considering getting my left shoulder fixed. Bunch of issues. Aside from the obvious self grounding when I'm in a sling, what concern if any, should I have with pain meds? I take no medications now but I presume for this surgery I would be prescribed something for a week or two. Is this...

    Century 2000 AP Installation

My C2000 tried killing me on several occasions. Installed the GFC500 as soon as it became available. I had a Viking with an old Century iib. That one was rock solid.

    Is Direct-Enter-Enter cheating?

I do the same as the OP when leaving my home base. I'm under Class B to my west and Class C a few miles to my east. I set the course during runup, depart staying clear of the B and C, and once clear direct-direct. I'm always VFR.

New Interesting Planes - Why do they come from Europe?

My point was there has been no public update from them in years best as I can tell. Looks dead in the water. In 2009 they were anticipating pricing from 205K to 310k depending on options. That would be a very marketable airplane.

New Interesting Planes - Why do they come from Europe?

Certainly not a new design but a good one, and various owners couldn't make the business model work. https://trueflightaerospace.com/ Several bankruptcies for prior owners and the latest owner hasn't had an update on their website in years. A Tiger with an IO-360 would nicely fill the gap...

    Feeling dumb

You stay with ground and switch to tower when your #2 at the threshold. Guys who call tower when their number four or five and say they’re in sequence get a talking to.

Between my hangar and the taxiway it’s wide open. Nothing around. It’s not an issue.

    Feeling dumb

It was the other pilots. We were all on ground. At my field you do NOT contact tower until you're #1 or 2. It's very busy and they get ****ed. So we were all on ground. There were at least 4 planes waiting on the taxiway for the threshold. I think the planes in the run up apron were waiting...

    Feeling dumb

I was taxiing out of my fbo and the run-up area is right outside their perimeter. I could see the run-up area backed up with flight school planes. I already had done mine at the fbo and figured those guys would all be sitting there for a while with their students. I taxied around them to get on...

    GFC 500- second servo fail

I didn't say I was surprised. The first servo failed after 6 months of the initial install. That was under warranty and before any widespread issues warranted them doing a recall. The recall was issued recently and it wasn't enough of an emergency to tie up the plane for weeks. Now it is.

    GFC 500- second servo fail

Replaced one servo a year ago. Now another one failed yesterday. It's going into the shop tomorrow and I'm guessing it will have a serial number within the recall parameters. Love this a/p but what's up with the servos? If you have one get the serial numbers checked and have any within the...

    Six Seat Single?

185 is a tail dragger. Not sure if that matters to you. 125K is kind of thin for a decent A36 but that's the plane you need.

    Six Seat Single?

You should get someone to fly you in any of the planes you are considering. I know if you go to www.beechtalk.com and introduce yourself you will have guys willing to take you for a ride. Not sure about Cessna/Piper forums.

    Six Seat Single?

I wouldn't fly either of those onto a grass field. Also assumes he wants to spend 500K or more?

    Six Seat Single?

Surprised it took this long to recommend the A36. It's perfect for his mission and certainly flies a lot nicer than the Piper/Cessna suggestions. Also great off of grass fields.
