    UND Crash…reversal of Germanwings

well if she in fact tried to notify the school and then he ended up crashing the plane, that would be an incredible coincidence if it were not true to some level. Very sad either way.

    Admission To Hospital Question

I see both sides on this topic. On one hand, I do not believe that getting to .16 means passed out drunk for everyone. And I don’t think it is a fair marker for tolerance “necessarily”. Like anything in the medical world, it would require supporting evidence of some kind. The FAA doesn’t play by...

More Information Required Timeline (1st Class Medical)

You’ll have to wait for the letter at this point…which won’t be fast. Whether you will be allowed path I with your meds and time on them is s different story Dr B could shed some light on that. If you are in a 141 program you could always start knocking out the academic requirements while the...

Should I Pursue A Private Pilot License?

The single alcohol even 23 years ago probably would have issuable with some supporting documents from employers and such backing that you quit drinking. The rehab, though, will tell them that you didn’t quit drinking in that time, even after you already had an adverse event from it. To the FAA...

In your opinion, Will I be required to enter a "Monitoring Program"?

Based on only anecdotal evidence, I have to say that I believe you will DEFINITELY be required monitoring. I was hit with monitoring and hoops for MUCH less. Though that won't make you feel good, there should be a path if you choose to take it. Your ONLY option will be to stop drinking...

Disclose Past Medical Condition that Guarantees Medical Deferral/Risks Denial?

I’m not sure you want to mess around with heart issues. Whether the level of care in this foreign country was sub standard or not would be another question. A work-up and clearing by a doctor in the US would probably be beneficial anyway. It doesn’t look like it is a particularly hard deferral...

3rd Class Medical and Special Issuance Rejection

Ugh…I feel for you on this one. It’s going to be tough. First on the original doctor point. I would be surprised if you could find a doctor that would admit, in writing, that they were wrong. As far as accredited experts go, you will need a HIMS AME. Like your regular AME, but more qualified in...

Student pilot: 21 year old DUI, sober for 19 years, active in recovery

In my opinion it is worth talking to as many people as possible about your "process". FSDO, RFS, Congressman. Whoever will listen. That old saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" may not be as relevant in OKC world, but I have to imagine it helps some. I really feel for you and your...

    Class 3 medical PPL issue

Yet another failure of a CFI or flight school. Very disappointing

    3rd class help

In all honesty they would need to dig DEEP to find anything on childhood....assuming a different dr was treating. A lot of dr offices only keep records for so many years after the patient stops going there...especially prior to the digital world. Maybe still available through insurance...

    3rd class help

Once you open the can, it can't be shut. Even if you are going all the way, you will encounter far more hurdles, wait times, hurt, sadness, anguish, and whatever other negative adjective you can think of by submitting the MedXpress without the proper backing documents. A consult will let you...

    3rd class help

I couldn’t agree with that approach more! I am currently training for my CFI and have begun getting my lesson plans together...I fully intend on making the medical a big deal in my teaching...which I feel is almost completely brushed aside right now.

    3rd class help

And let me say that this is yet ANOTHER complete failure of a flight school or flight instructor! There is no reason you should be close to solo BEFORE knowing this would be an issue. It makes me sick to see this.

    3rd class help

CAN the FAA pull your records?....you betcha! WILL the FAA pull your records? Not likely out of the blue. BUT...have an incident that inclines them to take a look and have them find out you withheld the diagnosis....I believe the proper legal phraseology is "You're F'd". That's a game of...

Why the FAA is so tough on alcoholics...

Well that’s a solid argument...maybe the FAA should consider that.

    Deferred Class 3 Medical

At face value it would seem that the attention to detail would be a benefit. I believe the issue is that someone who suffers from OCD cannot pick and choose what they obsess about. Flying a perfect 360 heading isn’t so great if you’re losing 4000’ a minute.

    Deferred Class 3 Medical

Never mind...already deferred. Disregard my basic med post.
