    ForeFlight Sentry

Get another CO2 detector. Sentry just shows something on foreflight and change a light. I personally feel better with a detector you can hear.

    Last mile transportation

Lots of electric scooter options out there. Anyone use those high speed ones? I always look at them and think wow you can get really badly banged up at 70kph falling off one of those.

PA 28 Down in Kentucky, Fatalities

A good instructor will teach proper risk evaluation. Absolutely you can tell a CFI to go pound sand. Who’s paying the CFI?

For Sale: Aircraft 17204TT...at what point is too much

Nothing money can’t fix :) It’ll be an experience. We have iron out most thing on our plane just as the group decides it’s time to step up to something with more capabilities. It helps there is a group of us to pay and to do actual work in it. Luckily for you a Cessna is something well supported.

Power-on stalls - confidence zero, can't feel them or hear horn

Don’t do power on in UK as in not customarily? Or not allowed? If former why wouldn’t you try them as part of training? It’s how most people will accidentally stall.

Get the Lead out -- time to stop dragging our feet

You know an interesting thing about getting lead out of avgas? Is why the question is always about the gas. To avoid the lead you can get rid of the lead in the fuel and that as we already knows takes a lot of effort and we still can’t get it. Or, you can change over to engines that doesn’t...

Get the Lead out -- time to stop dragging our feet

One reason why we change oil so often is lead. Without it you can use synthetic and should have longer change interval. Lead fouling can cause ignition issue. Without it you have one less potential safety hazard. And while the amount being used is small. We are handling it, and being close to...

Pattern Wars - The New FAA Answer - Or Not

There aren’t a lot places I have seen where you actually have no ground radio advisory or tower, and there is a lot of traffic. Although the practice area near my base has many grass fields dotted all over, and that gets interesting once you switched to the field frequency and a student flies...

Pattern Wars - The New FAA Answer - Or Not

That’s how we do it here in the north. Unless there’s tower or traffic advisory, no entry by straight in, or by 45 into downwind.

Is there a combo garage door opener / Car key fob?

Here in Toronto they have video of someone taking off a fog light to access the CAN bus on a car in order to hack it, start it and steal it. And never mind the replay attacks on keyless fobs.

Is there a combo garage door opener / Car key fob?

Trim levels may differ. Seems pretty resistant to the idea of a wifi based controller. I don’t like IoT either. Host them on a separate wifi network with a firewall between if you are concerned.

Is there a combo garage door opener / Car key fob?

The myQ hub does the job. Your son can have the app and close and open it using his phone. You can also set schedule so that it’ll close after everyone is expected to be out of the house if the door’s open. Alternative solution is the Wyse version if you don’t have a door opener like mine here...

    <na> golden years plan

Just wanted to point out that if everyone just saved money for retirement and don’t have kids, there would be no one to take the money to take care of the old folks.

Why does density altitude not affect oxygen concentration?

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1114067/ When you look at the altimeter it is showing you the pressure. Which is all that you need to know regarding oxygen intake in your lungs. The DA is more about additional mechanical performance.

    Burnout

Every career worth having involved some parts no one likes. So this is just natural and not just for pilots. Since I don’t fly for a job my point of view is from other industries, but I think it applies. You’ll see it again later on in any career. There’s school/training part, then the first...

    Haven't Solo'd, Sill Struggling w/ Landings

My 2nd solo flight was in a full pattern. There’s still a recording on LiveATC where I sound exasperated cause I was asked to extend downwind again and they’ll call my base. I ended it after 3 turns cause it was getting too busy for me. You know what gets you a clear pattern for your first...
