    Can't buy computer desks

You are in Dayton? Try Larricks. Also Mendelson's is closing down. They probably have something you could use. There's also about 50 of them on Dayton Craigslist.

    Craigslist Scams

I had a co-worker who contacted someone in a nearby city that was offering a very nice inexpensive car. He contacted them via e-mail, and they gave him the whole "I'll ship it to you" thing. He said, "I'll just come and get it, you are only and hour away" but they insisted they had to ship it...

Opinions on turboprops for winter mountain airport flights?

It's a PW-119, which is a PWC 100 Series engine, but the PW-119 is unique to the Do328. To the best of my knowledge, no other aircraft uses the 119.

Opinions on turboprops for winter mountain airport flights?

Funny you mentioned Dornier. The Do328 turboprop was regularly flown into several of the ski areas by an airline called Aspen Mountain Air. It is a 32 passenger turboprop, so it's probably much larger than what you'd be interested in. It also has an engine that is "unique" to the aircraft, and...

Clearing ice from in front of hangar

I can only assume they fixed the issue - there is a "purchased between date X and date Y" in the recall notice

    Blue Collar Pilots

This isn't exactly on the topic, but it's related . . . I'm kind of surprised that none of the Alaska guys have chimed in about this. I attended the Alaska Airmen's Show a few years back, and was surprised to see the number of "blue collar" folks up there that flew for their jobs. There are a...

cheap scanner or radio for CTAF

I'm looking into this. There was a group of Ham radio guys that were building small aircraft radio receivers at Kidventure at OSH this year. It was very small, like business card size. I found another on line - might be the same thing, but the schematic is pretty hard to read...

Questions about my first Colon Screening

I agree with the others. The procedure itself is a big nothing. Two funny stories about mine. The "cleanout" stuff I had to drink the day before was called "GoLYTELY," which I thought was a rather humorous name. Someone in marketing has a sense of humor! I had to drink about a gallon of it. It...

Ask American to quote you the Hartzell scimitar Top prop for the 172RG. The price might be a little better.

The bad thing about the AN-2 (well, one of the bad things) is that they burn as much fuel as the speed they fly. I don't have the numbers around any more, but top speed was like 120 MPH and fuel burn is right around 100 gallons per hour!

An AN-12? That's a four engine turboprop! Did you mean an AN-2? That's "about" Beaver size, maybe a bit bigger. One of my favorites! This is me at the factory in Poland.

    Contrails?

The venturi reminded me of a story. Our airport mechanic had a Globe Swift that had one. He was out somewhere and someone asked him what it was. He told them it was a horn to scare the deer off the runway so you could land.

Constant speed prop flattening above 4000 feet

I hear this all the time on twins used for training. The planes/engines are high time, and flown often, sometimes with one student flying right after another student, so the oil temps are high. The props on the twins will feather, rather than go to low pitch, as you mentioned in your earlier post.

Constant speed prop flattening above 4000 feet

OK, here's what I think is happening: You prop is a dumb animal. It only does what the governor tells it to do. Your governor was tested, and is functional, so what is going on? On your prop (I'm assuming is a C202, C206 or C208) the pitch is controlled by oil into the prop for high pitch (low...
