    How old is/was your CFI?

Glen Perkins. That name rings a bell since I was flying in ORL in the early 80's too. Wasn't my instructor but I remember the name. My PPL instructor was late 30's or early 40's and sure wish I knew what happened to him. He was by far the best instructor I could have had!;)

Preliminary results of the ERAU PA-28 accident

And the Arrow is usually not considered a primary trainer. Trainer, yes, but usually used in the complex training portion. Makes one wonder. I was surprised no corrosion was found considering the area these planes fly. Maybe they were keeping up with that and not paying enough attention to...

Preliminary results of the ERAU PA-28 accident

Think ER is in deep dodo! I do not miss this one not being blamed on pilot error. As I write this KORL is shut down due to a collapsed (or ??) landing gear! And we still need the report on the KA90 that crashed into Lake Harney near KSFB from December. Think that one will come under PE.

    TV Alert! AllEgiant Airlines

Sen Bill Nelson (D, Fl) has asked DOT IG to investigate how the FAA oversees aviation safety saying Allegiant has not been subject to proper scrutiny or penalty. Ah, the wonders of election years!

    First Student Pilot Barf Episode

When training for my initial CFI, my instructor told me the most important thing to have in my flight bag was Sic Sacs! I never left the ground without them.;) EDITED - not for me -- for the students!!!

    CFIs Voice In Absentia

On my first solo as he was getting out of the plane -- "Even though I'm not in here, you will still hear my voice." He was right. Sometimes I can still hear him and it's been over 35 yrs!;)

My bad. Saw the thread before it stated a Thunderbird was involved. Just didn't connect the dots.

2 killed in plane crash west of Daytona Beach

And if the hard landing reported is true, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, how would you handle the possibility that you may have contributed to this terrible loss? Yes, it was reported and mx took a look but I still have to wonder about the guilt for that pilot.

2 killed in plane crash west of Daytona Beach

The plane was doing t&go's at the time of the wing separating. The student was a Navy veteran studying on his GI bill. His name has been released but nothing else about where he was from. The DPE's name has not been released. I, too, heard about the hard landing reported above.

    little too close

Wish those cameras were out in the 80's - would have had scary video. In a light twin, instrument approach (rwy 7) on one engine, student recovering from bypass heart surgery (glad he was under the hood), on tower frequency, cleared to land #2 behind a 152 which was no factor. Cheyenne calls...

5 related adults dead in Cessna 340 crash

This crash was discussed at a recent FAAST meeting I attended and Dick Karl isn't the only one to come up with this. Have to wonder what the total weights will show when NTSB finishes their investigation. Regardless, was not a smart move by the PIC to takeoff anyway.

Sure I'll hold short of the taxiway

Back in the 80's while enroute from KSAT to KORL ATC gave me a call saying I would have traffic passing off my left at my altitude. Sure enough a couple minutes later the Blue Angels pulled alongside, gear and flaps down, obviously matching my 160 knot airspeed. Wingman was about 50 feet off...

That's what you get for not having spell check. For the purest out there -- Embry Riddle.

Do students at DAB get charged by the Hobbs time?

Traffic at DAB wasn't the only problem. When I was instructing out of ORL in the 80's and early 90's the "ER" (Emery Riddle) tail numbers terrorized local airports, too. Was up at SFB with a student one day doing T&Go's when one entered the pattern, actually right in front of us while on...

    When dreams come true... (long)

Jonesy, got a question for you. Since acquiring all this added experience has it caused you to change anything you do with training your GA students? I know my training regime changed as I flew with other pilots. Would see something they did that I liked better and thus would incorporate into...
