Has Anyone Bought or Sold a 182 In The Last Year?

Like others have mentioned, trying to time the market usually results in further anguish and no asset purchase. I thought I bought my house at the top of the market as I was sweating bullets signing closing docs, but now it’s gained about 100k in equity in 3 years. So you may be better off...

KLNS - PA28 Departed Taxiway Instead of Runway 11/19/2020

And there you have it. We all gotta quit flying at some point. Better to quit on your own terms than having the FAA yank your cert while you struggle to live in the ICU after plowing into a fence taking off the wrong way.

    Do you grade your flights?

I don't grade, but I do reflect on them and try to improve on the little things every time.

    Two forestry pilot positions

Nice. Post on airlinepilotforums.com as well. Seems to be more career oriented pilots looking for jobs there.

Cessna 310R down near Las Vegas yesterday (Oct 29); two dead

To add #4, it seems that even at the end if he would have just committed to landing off airport he could have easily made any number of open desert plots surrounding the crash site. Just power to idle to prevent the roll and essentially dead stick it into the sand. High probability of minor...

Cessna 310R down near Las Vegas yesterday (Oct 29); two dead

Correct. Part of the reason owner flown, twin piston insurance is so high.

Strangest thing you've ever seen in the boonies

Wh0re houses. In the Kenyan Masi Mara a shack on the dusty one lane trail. In Austrian Alps, forgotten mountain road on the way to a mid-evil town. Signs in English. And the Arizona desert, about 30 min from the edge of "The Valley". Kinda the same everywhere. I guess that makes it not...

    Personal Minimums for Instrument Currency

THIS. I’m in claims so I’m kinda jaded from seeing all the crashes over the years. Small SEPs are not really made to take on “real” IMC aka icing. Yes there are FIKI mods but what I fly doesn’t have any of that. I file IFR for probably half of my flights even if VMC. Usually I won’t go...

    Rented pilots for your plane?

Go to your local flight school for leads but contact the CFIs directly. Tons of CFIs right now looking to fly more than C-172s around the pattern. If you regularly need “ASAP” flights, It may be better to have a full time pilot on staff. But if “ASAP” is at all flexible within a day or two...

Flight following - not sure why I didn't use it before

I think that there are a lot of pilots in semi-rural/rural areas that have less congested airspace and never really learn to use ATC. If you’re strictly recreational and don’t fly into D/C/B airspace regularly you can basically never really need to talk to center/approach. I also work with a...

Anyone know of an A&P who can work at KPSP?

I had a Cessna prang(I’m a claims adjuster)there a while back, bent firewall. There is a shop there -http://www.palmspringsaircraft.com/service.php They took a look at it but they aren’t set up to do major repairs. They did seem fine for routine maintenance. That may be what you need.

    I love retractable gear airplanes

My line is between piston and turboprop. In my personal life I'll probably never own a Tprop, so a piston is just fine. If the gear sucks up or down and welded doesn't matter much , I'm still off the ground!

    DarkAero Aircraft

I love their manufacturing videos as one who is trying to get back into that space. But GA experimental is difficult path. I wonder where their funding is coming from. If they’re working for free and just paying for raw materials then maybe not that much. May be worth it just going through...

Where/how do you store your aircraft logbooks?

A drawer in the hangar and a copy at home. Every year I copy the latest entries and add to the home binder. It doesn't get more than a couple entries per year, and other than annual they're my own(I'm an a&p) so it works fine. Big stuff like upgrades/annuals I do copy pretty quickly however...
