    G1000 what are the thoughts?

This. The company T182T I fly is a 2004, first year of the G1000 option. The guy who hired me(retired now) picked it up from the factory and he went with the steam gauges, since it was first year of the G1000 and thought there would be kinks to work out. I just had it upgraded from the stock...

    GA landing KPHX?

I will second Swift. I work with them but I never have actually flown into PHX. From every one I’ve spoken with it is easy, and they can keep you away from the airline traffic, even VFR.

US Air Force going back to small liaison planes?

Bring back the mighty PC-6 Pilatus Porter and stick a couple PJs in it for recovery.

How necessary is a CFI to break into commercial aviation?

In theory networking can get you damn far. I knew a guy who learned to fly in his 40s for fun. One of his best friends was a corporate Gulfstream pilot, and he hooked him up in the right seat of a GIV with 500 hours. He would tell the story how he was at Flightsafety with 500 hours getting...

    Performance - 206 TSIO520 vs IO550

https://backcountrypilot.org/forum Check out back country pilot forums. Lots of good Intel on 206s and upgrades. From what I can gather even a IO550 has a rough time as you get towards 6k DA. But the turbo consumes Connie pistons like crazy. I push a T182T(Lyco, but turbo failed before TBO)...

What is the current state of Commercial aviation?

part 135 and 91 turbine doing pretty good. Rich people gotta stay rich. Airline not so good.

ATL to BOS/PVD in Piston Single

182RG. Good airplane for your mission. No use stressing over the other options. Plenty fast with 2 people, 2-3 times a year.

    Liability?

I'm in claims. Set it up in an LLC and insure it, you'll be fine. If there is a mechanical issue that caused a crash, the mechanic is exposed, not the pilot who missed it. And if the pilots are part of the LLC, the LLC can't sue themselves. As for "pilots did something to the plane", well...

    An Airline for the Rich?

Jetsuite X does something similar with the same airframe. They fly BUR, OAK, CCR, RNO, LAS, PHX, SNA. COVID crushed their 135 operation with Phenoms but JSX is profitable and still operating. Now competitors are trying to get in on the game. You should see their FBOs. The one at PHX is...

Any wiggle room on the price of a factory-new plane?

In theory yes. But as for any negotiation, it has to be mutually beneficial for both sides. On the high end if you’re buying multiple aircraft or will trade the current plane in for the jet in a few years, you have leverage. In fact the Gulfstreams and Dassaults of the world will play that...

Is the general public actually going to fly in an EVtol aircraft?

Eventually. But there will be setbacks, like when the first one crashes and kills a couple people in downtown NY/SF/London, the media is going to be all over it, which will put people off for a while.

Piper PA28 EXPERIENCES HEAVY WAKE TURBULENCE | Emergency Lands at JFK

    Commercial Pilot Career?

This. If you guys breakup, you're f-+ked. Sure he may be the love of your life now but take it from a guy a bit older- it can all go to hell at the drop of a hat. So, I wouldn't recommend you doing that, but nor should he be forcing you to. He's young, has time to stand on his own two feet...

    Vulcanair P68TC (Partenavia P68)

I think they have Lyc IO360s on them. They seem like pretty cool twins, but I’ve never been in one. I would imagine airframe parts/support may be difficult, but California Fish and Game has a fleet of them which I see now and then in in the air. PPRUNE(professional pilot rumor network) has...

    Boeing 737 Suffers Hard Landing

The Boeing AOG Team can built a new airplane from the landing gear up anywhere in the world with enough money. But of course its not worth the cost to repair so the insurance company will total it, take the wreck and part it out.

    Escape underwater oxygen bottle argument

This. See the Helicopter crash in the Hudson a couple years back. One float didn’t deploy, one did, and it flipped over. The passengers had a crude belt cutter to cut their harness and watched a safety video before the flight. But in complete panic no passenger is going to be able to think...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

I would add, get an opinion from a good airframe repair shop as well, like Beegles in CO. If you do just sell as is, also consider Arizona Air Salvage along with Texas Air Salvage. Arizona Air Salvage has been pretty aggressive lately.

    Sad News

I'm sorry. I'm in claims so I deal with a few fatal crashes every year. The human aspect is very difficult, the greiving family and friends. But among us in aviation, you and your mates are in rarefied air, pilots we all wish we could be. God bless them and their families, and tailwinds.

    4 Seaters to save for?

Other than a C-206, how about a Maule O-235 M7 or better yet M9. Camp all day Baby. Course' you need a taildragger endorsement but gooood fun. Just fuel up appropriately.

Buying Plane without Panel Mounted GPS

You could get your IFR with what you have, that’s how I(and many others) did it. Then just have ForeFlight for reference. But as other have said, if you plan on doing at lot of IFR flying GPS is probably for the best. If you just want to file every now and then in marginal VMC or a couple...
