You got a hand held radio you can plug them into? I had an old ANR set that would kill batteries quickly and when they got low it would blast this horrible noise at high volume in your ears.

All of this makes me wonder if the current shunt is high side or low side. I believe there are MOSFETs between the main and essentials bus. It's a one way street, main can charge essentials but not vice versa. Was there a load applied to the battery and then disconnected before you observed...

Light colors are better for crew spaces where walking around and the possibility of hitting your head are higher. I don't think it would be beneficial to a panel otherwise.

When you buy a TV you should weigh the owners manual. You can tell OP has a manual under a pound because of the content he is watching. You want something that weighs at least 5 lbs, that way you know it's worth more. Sweet TV btw.

I was in upstate NY. I don't think you can buy it anymore. I'm back in San Diego and I left it in NY. I looked at $100 headsets from the usual places and don't see it.
