Can this cirrus be fixed after chute deployment?

    Works for the CTA.

    6Y9 Fly-In 2018 (labor day weekend)

I meant the flight sim. ;) Might be a plan for next year.

    Our Trip to Oshkosh

I'm lucky to be a day-trip away by car, and I have friends south of FLD I can camp at if I want a longer stay, so I've never been overly tempted to fly in. But I should once, I guess. 15 years ago, starting my training,I was completely intimidated by the NOTAM. Now with videos like this and...

Funny, when I put that URL in: https://google.com/maps?cid=0x557b53bcd367742eb9ff09882720557f it gets changed to MY location. Thought you might be on to something there, but now not so sure.

I flew there in X-Plane. Not much going on from what I saw. Lots of trees.

I took a quick look at the CSV. The Location column looks like a proprietary 'Location Code.' E.g.: 557b53bcd367742eb9ff09882720557f Not sure that's readily transplantable. I'm no expert but I've dinked with a lot of location formats. Don't know anything like that. *Googles* Found this...

Can this cirrus be fixed after chute deployment?

From my arm chair, that's what I would have tried before pulling that handle. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

Are checkrides longer than they used to be?

Just to add data - 2004 at C81 (Chicago 'burbs), ground was about 1.5 hours (small delay because the aircraft logbooks were unavailable for a bit), DPE told me I was VERY well-prepared (I had made spreadsheets for pretty much everything, including to show recency of training, post-its in the...

    Tales of a Rusty Pilot

@Rooney Freimund I'd read this thread when I first joined POA, between getting bit by the bug again and waiting to get my medical straightened out. I appreciated having your POV/reminder that the Flight Review - especially after (11 in my case) years off - is not a race. Once I got flying...

Can this cirrus be fixed after chute deployment?

If you do it, make sure you safety-wire those flap connectors . . . Edit to add: I just scrolled through the pics, one of the prop blades is COMPLETELY MISSING (and the spinner cone looks dinged). Lulz.

    Master left on, dead battery

Would be impossible to tie down without at least a cursory one. I may have left the Avionics Bus on when I shut down last, but that's up to the next person's pre-start checklist to catch. ;)

    First flight in . . . nearly 11 years.

@Terry M - 3CK (Chicago) The drive isn't too bad now - 15 minutes if I get all the lights and take the expressway, down from 30 minutes out to 5K6. And we were running other errands, so this was just a 'stop by and see if it works,' but I WAS hoping to go up today or tomorrow. I heard back from...

    Stories of your "successful failures."

@LoLPilot Thanks for visualizing what I was thinking. ;) @kath That sounds amazing, and a little spooky.

    First flight in . . . nearly 11 years.

It cleared up decently this afternoon, and my GoPro mount arrived, but apparently I haven't been put back into the keybox system yet. o.O So it's good I didn't have real plans.

Was going to take my 4 year old up, but realized I needed to wait to get a GoPro mount to record her reactions first. :D Oh, and wx is crap.

    Stories of your "successful failures."

Thursday was my first time solo since '07. In my recent reviewing/de-rusting I've gotten it drilled into my head to monitor guard when able. I had GND and TWR in Com1 and put ATIS and 121.5 in Com 2 so once I flipped, I'd be monitoring. Made darn sure "Com2 Mic" was OFF on the audio panel. Just...

    Stories of your "successful failures."

Not really a successful failure, but on the optical illusion front, I was heading south from 5K6 on a clear morning with my wife over the Fox River 'Chain O' Lakes' (the one in Northern Illinois - I think that term is used a bunch) headed down to 06C to meet some friends and give a few rides...

    Master left on, dead battery

I guess hooray for noisy DC gyros? I can't imagine walking away from that racket. But now I'll probably do it on my next flight.

Going to the airport to get information about starting my PPL

This is like when I complain about auto gas prices and my friend in Ireland scoffs so hard it hurts. :D Great advice on 'chair' flying the plane on IMC days. I did that both during initial training and also recently knocking the rust off. It helps for sure.
