    Run-up areas

Heck, they might even stop and do their own run-up. If waiting the 30 seconds or whatever for you to run up is going to make them late, they should have planned better. If it's going to break them on fuel costs, they're in the wrong game. If it's just going to stress them out, they might...

For Sale Sporty's A300 COM like new

I’m just glad you’re not getting scammed so I don’t not have to. Been thinking about a handheld and snoozed on this one.

Cheapest annual turns into the most expensive yet

Yeah, but that didn't cost a dime.

    Run-up areas

Odds, maybe, but not where I trained. Could get pretty busy. Thus the turn away from the taxiway. Mag check right before rotation? *shrug* If they're dumb enough to taxi right up behind a plane doing a run-up they deserve the dings they get? You're PIC of your plane, not theirs. I mean, be...

    Weird searching old threads

I swear on I was on this board back in the day, but never did find a sign of my old account, so maybe not. I'm still shaking my head about all the content I posted to StudentPilot.com that's just . . . *poof*

    Run-up areas

The airport I trained at umpteen years ago had no run-up areas. Taxi to runway, turn away from the guy potentially behind you, blast away. Turn back when done. You don't 'pull off,' you keep your spot in line (if there is one), just watch your prop wash.

Restaurant Review: Hangar 54 (KEAU) Eau Claire, WI

Hoping to get a fall colors flight in with my wife before they, well, fall. This might be the destination for dinner - thanks.

Restaurant Review: Hangar 54 (KEAU) Eau Claire, WI

I remember at one point in the late '80s or early '90s, Eau Claire was elected (by whoever) as the best place in America to raise a family. *shrug* I have my own connections to Eau Claire. Been driving through since my grandparents moved up a little north of there (from Chicago) in 1976 - when...

What it's really like to fly the Chicago lakeshore at sunrise

Editing in the return-trip conversation and cockpit shots while the exteriors were still of heading south was a head-cramper but cool video. :D I grew up under the extended centerline of 29 and did a discovery flight out of Schaumburg. Used to ride my bike out there and be able to sit on a knoll...

I did a tower visit at UGN within the first year of my flying. Very cool/enlightening. Due for another. Worth the time if you can find it.

    Student Landing Issue

Learn to land there and you'll be good anywhere. You'll be shocked at how much extra room that towered tarmac will give you. Although, ironically, the first few there will be ugly just because of the different sight picture - you'll try to land WAY too early, probably. No worries, that's why...

Having just gone down an Air Safety Institute rabbit hole last night, this is a little too spot on.

Pilots of America Member Map *

Current status, I have the csv and have the scraped 36 images therein. So at this point ZeeMaps could go away and I believe we have the data they have (all of the images were on their amazonaws account). I may get to tinker with re-presenting the data this weekend, but I need to get back to...

Pilots of America Member Map *

Grabbed the file. Family vacation coming up next week, so time is limited, but I'll tinker when able. I agree, grabbing the photos from the URL field should be fairly trivial. I'll let you know what's what when able. Thanks for the effort/expense.

    Tales of a Rusty Pilot

When I finished my Review, I had either Avare or FltPlan Go running on a spare phone. Our planes have GTX 345s, so I had GPS + ADS-B goodies via BlueTooth. And I'd gotten familiar with the software with X-Plane on the ground suite a bit. After I ditched the CFI, I flew a little bit referring...

    Tales of a Rusty Pilot

My 'return story' is already up-thread, but I just wanted to add that oddly, what has made me most anxious has been staying oriented and remembering all the old landmarks I used to know cold. Procedures, crosswind landings, etc., no problem, but I've feel a little unsure/not-yet-lost a couple...
