    Marijuana Use

I'd like to be the first to welcome the DEA agent to POA.

    Wireless hot spot capability

This is how it's best done on the cheap for occasional use. If someone doesn't have an unlimited plan, it is probably cheaper to just pay them the $10/mo to upgrade to an unlimited plan instead of paying for a separate hot spot. For the people zooming it, it will all work better...

    Trans-friendly AMEs in America

Given that the FAA aeromedical folks in OK can't seem to manage anything consistently (i.e. https://aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2023/march/30/baker-urges-faa-amnesty-for-veterans) even within their own "rules", I don't see an issue with OP's question and concern.

Oh Continental, what have you done now?

The fact that this thread has gone on as long as it has is proof of why we need IAs to be looking over our airplanes every year. Anyone who cites the flowchart in the revised AD needs to read the footnote at the bottom of the flowchart. It isn't my fault that the FAA could have written a much...

    Is this bad?

Not "near" the ocean. "In" the ocean. Never mind the ink run on the filter. That's just a minor fuel leak.

Oh Continental, what have you done now?

That future person, by necessity, will be the next IA doing your annual. Possibly even the next A&P to touch your engine if that is before your next annual. There was no provision in the AD for you to wait until your annual for that next person to do the "wondering".

Bad ADM in Children’s airplane books/media

At first I was appreciating the humor in this one, then I made the mistake of looking up the registration. It was a Cessna 180, fatal crash in Alaska in 1971. :-(

    Another airplane value thread

Vref is the only publically available too. NAAA used to have a separate valuation tool (that was generally more accurate than Vref was at the time), but that is gone. Ultimately, each of these 40+ year old (mostly) birds are unique in some way, good or bad, and the circumstances causing a...

    Should I buy these books?

IMHO, also buy and read "Stick and Rudder", by Wolfgang Langewiesche.

    Entrepreneurial nostalgia from childhood

Most kids would rather work retail or fast food than push a mower. If their parents have a yard service, they probably don't even have access to the equipment to do it even if they wanted to, without dump at least a few hundred in to start. I mowed lawns/shoveled snow/helped my brother with a...

If he had 2 billion dollars: Powerball Winner Buys Massive $25.5M Hollywood Hills Home

The LA County tax rate will include almost all the taxes, other than sometimes a few dollars for a local bond issue. This is also only for the first year; it will go up by 2% per year (2% of of the 1.178% $'s). And because of Prop 13, while your house value increases 4% per year (typical long...

    2006 "Cessna" 400

I'm in a co-ownership with 2 other guys. We do often leave it filled up, but not always. We have an account with the local FBO that allows us to charge fuel to another partner when we fill up, if needed, so we just write down how much we burned (fuel totalizer) if we leave it less than full. If...

    Paint colors and safety

No regrets on the colors. Which we had done something a little nicer with the stripes. We did the top of the tail and wingtips in blue too. We think the contrast helps a bit with being easier to see, but who knows. We have metallic silver accent stripes too. Top cowling being dark takes a little...
