    Career Update

I just read the material at least two or maybe three times over the past couple years. The first round I just read through the material. The second time I read through again, I highlighted with what might think may be important. After that, I bought flash cards to write my own test questions...

    Career Update

Thank you! If you take their review course, it will definitely help prepare you for the exam. They host those review courses a couple or three times a year in various locations in the U.S. but it's expensive. At one point, I was thinking of flying to some place to take their review course...

    Career Update

Hello all, It has been quite awhile since I last posted here, but I got a couple updates about what is going on in my career. Last month, I finally got my Certified Member certification from the American Association of Airport Executives! I read and studied the materials intensely...

Going to the International Air Show, TODAY!

I was there too today, great show! The F-35 demonstration is awesome! I'm surprised that the passenger airliners had time to squeeze in between each airshow performance and were allowed to take off and land. I bet passengers didn't know they were going to be part of the airshow!

Secret Life Of The Airport - Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport

I watched this recently and it was very interesting! I do the nighttime airfield inspection for the evening shift checking for any outages of airfield lighting, obstruction lighting, and making sure all airfield signs are properly lit.

    Is AvWeb Still Hacked?

The past week or so, whenever I access AvWeb from my laptop or phone, the website either is down or takes a long time for the page to load. Other times, it loads up as normal. They say they had a Denial-of-Service attack and had resolved the issue, but it looks like the issue is still...

    Coffee

I am experimenting with aerating coffee by pouring coffee back and forth with 2 cups and most recently pouring coffee into a hardened plastic water bottle or metal container, closing the lid, and vigorously shaking it. It makes my coffee very frothy, but I am wondering if I am still "aerating"...

    Continuing Ed; aviation

Airport operations personnel who work at Part 139 certificated airports, which are usually commercial airline service airports, must receive training under various subjects including Part 139 itself, its Airport Certification Manual, various Airport Advisory Circulars, Letter of Agreements...

    Airplanes in airport terminals

I don't think PHL has any airplanes inside its terminal but the airport is also part art museum with many artwork on display throughout all the terminals. Every so often they change and display new artwork. There is also a small stage in the B/C Food Court for musicians and singers to perform.

    LSA weight restrictions changing?

Is there a NPRM posted for this yet, and if so what is the name of the NPRM and where can we find it? AOPA doesn't seem to mention any of the news regarding the LSA weight increase rulemaking other than only Avweb. EAA did mention they are working on LSA reform although it's not under a...

Seniority System in Airline Pilots vs. Other Careers with Seniority Systems

In Airport Ops at the airport I work at, we have three tiers of seniority. You would start off as an Airport Ops Officer/Agent working Airside Ops for about a few years, then you would work Terminal/Landside Ops in the Operations/Ramp Tower for another couple years, then it's back to Airside...

Seniority System in Airline Pilots vs. Other Careers with Seniority Systems

Just wondering, but is there a difference in how seniority works for airline pilots at airlines vs. other careers that run on seniority and involve shift work, both aviation & non-aviation careers? Is the airline pilot seniority system really unique from other jobs or are there some similarities?

    Student curious about aviation career

I work in airport operations at a major international airport. It's one of the types of careers in the larger realm of airport management. I can give you more information about it if you are interested.

Where would you have diverted to?

As someone who works in airport ops at PHL, I agree with everyone that PHL would be a better option. We have more ARFF capability and more resources for emergency response than MDT such as bringing in emergency responders from Philly and other counties and towns close to PHL.

    Saving the LSA/SPL

https://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/LAMA-Works-on-LSA-Initiatives-with-FAA-230660-1.html LAMA has four goals it wants in LSA Reform. Unfortunately, none of those initiatives include raising the LSA maximum gross weight.

    Saving the LSA/SPL

I did not know that AOPA is working on a light sport aircraft reform. Hopefully this would allow more legacy light aircraft to fall under the definition of LSA.
