Thoughts on Progressive Lenses For Flying

I fly with Multifocal contacts - basically they are progressive lens contacts. They are fantastic. Much better than my progressive lens glasses (which are quite good).

Looking for advice from Bonanza 35 owners current or previous

Do you like the S35, specifically because of the look of the V-Tail? If so, it sounds like you have a good understanding of the issue. If the plane is thoroughly checked for corrosion and if it's always been clean and has good paint on the tail feathers, then you're fine. You just need to go...

which plane best fits this mission?

    182RG is a great plane.

which plane best fits this mission?

It's really not a big deal to do this. My agent actually suggested I initially insure with 4 seats. He then wrote up the policy with a line item stating that I'd have only 4 seats filled at any given time. Later on, I asked him to revise the policy to allow me to fill the seats - which he did...

which plane best fits this mission?

You can insure a plane like an A36 with only 4 seats installed. You leave the 5th and 6th out (they are super easy to remove) and you have a 4 seat plane for insurance purposes with a HUGE baggage area.

    What happened to WeatherSpork?

Mike's comment is spot on - I also liked weatherspork, but it was obvious to me that Scott wasn't listening or willing to hear what was said by the users. I worked over 20 years in the IT world before retiring this year. a comment you'd hear fairly often was along the lines of "This job...

Talk me out of a Debonair

Actually, I'm an A36 guy. Your V-Tail is cute. ;)

Talk me out of a Debonair

I guess I'm not getting your point. Looks like you fly a turbo V35. If that's the case, you know that a 33 with a turbo is just as fast. Maybe you could use a couple words? If you're just showing off your plane's performance, I get it. I like to do that too, but it's really not a fair...

Talk me out of a Debonair

Hard to tell if that's true when you just show ground speed. Want to share TAS and whether or not you're doing a like for like comparison with things like engine and turbocharging? You might be very surprised what some Debonairs can do. Off the top of my head, Debs could be 225, 270, 285 or...

    Depreciation on a 182

I understand and you're wise to be thinking about where you are in your ability level. I was flying mostly Cessnas, including a 182RG - and sometimes renting an SR20 when I bought my plane. I had done a few hours of SR22 transition training. In my opinion (and that's all this is), the SR22...

    Depreciation on a 182

It's more than just the equipment. There isn't an original wire in my plane. All lighting changed to LED. Breaker panels fully refreshed. Everything covered in leather, new one piece panel, new glare shield. Anything chrome was re-chromed, all the plastic was replaced or refreshed with new...

    Depreciation on a 182

    Thanks. Yes, that’s a GTX-345. The audio panel is a PS Engineering PMA450. The 2nd radio is a GNC255.

    Restaurant biz?

I learned to run a business and how to manage customers and staff when I ran restaurants. I made enough to retire early and I gained quality of life when I left the restaurant business and moved into IT. That was also a key reason I was able to learn to fly and buy my own plane. Wouldn’t...

    Depreciation on a 182

These prices are one of the reasons that I ended up buying a 1971 Beechcraft A36 and then bringing it into the future. For less than a G1000 182, I have a 1359# UL, cruise speeds between 172 and 185 (LOP VS ROP), a modern glass panel that looks like a Garmin advertisement and an airframe that’s...

    Depreciation on a 182

My dad bought a Turbo 182 new from the factory in 2005 (G1000). He paid $335K compare that to what you see those selling for now. Also - maybe get a bit frustrated that Textron has jacked the price of a 182 into the stratosphere when all the costs of development and tooling have already been...

    Restaurant biz?

By the way - If you are in a position to hire someone to work for you, especially if it's to manage people, a P&L, a facility, customers, for sales.... and a you get a proven restaurant manager as an applicant - even if that person would need some training, you'd be doing yourself (and them)...

    Restaurant biz?

This sounds like "all you gotta do is the right stuff in the right way, it's easy. What's the problem?" Huge over simplification.
