Work Rant. Day in the life of an I.T. Guy

What happened to GoodGuyBruce? We never got to meet him! There are elements of this story that are showing up in at least 3 projects my team have going. We really should go flying and swap war stories. I wanted to pick your brain on some project management tools my guys are proposing, too.

    Circular Runways

The way drivers around here deal with roundabouts, I'd hate to see it in action with planes!

    O-320-E2A

That was what I was thinking, and Tom's question pointed me in the right direction for looking at alternate props (which there are none). It just seems odd that there isn't a simple stc to get the rpms up to take full advantage of the engine.

    O-320-E2A

So, when you test and swap these props, do need to get STCs for each one?

    O-320-E2A

Well, the -E2A is rated for both 140hp@2450 and 150hp@2700. The Cherokee I'm looking at is only making 2450rpm, so I'm just curious if anyone knows what limits that? Prop was my first thought, but the only prop STCs that I saw all went with engine changes. I ran across an obscure site that...

    O-320-E2A

That was my thought too. But, reading through some things, it almost seems like it might be a throttle setting? I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be much out there about this at all (at least nothing I can find). Oh, and sorry if my OP was a little terse. I was in line at the airport!

    O-320-E2A

As best as I can tell, this engine on the PA-28-140 can be rated at 140hp or 150hp and the only differentiation is that the 140hp is at 2450 rpm and the 150 hp is at 2700 rpm. Is that right? So if I'm in a 140 that only goes to 2400-2500 rpm at WOT, then is that an indication it is putting out...

    Hey Taylor Tx people

I have only tried one of the big 3 in Lockhart, Black's, and it exceeded expectations. Planning a couple of flights down to try Kreutz's and Smitty's. I've heard it's pretty easy to get to town, either through crew car or your favorite ride share service.

    Flight to Natchitoches, LA

Man alive, those are gorgeous planes. My brother went to school in Natchitoches. Steel Magnolias was filmed there, too. He ran into Daryl Hannah in one of the restaurants... she wasn't impressed by his flirting but he said he gave it his best shot.

    Tall Pilots

Wow, really? I'm 6'1" 250lbs, and when I flew the Tobago, I kept hitting my head on the roof. That was the only thing I didn't like about that plane. Panel was a bit goofy, but that's easy to get used to. I echo the 182. In my limited experience, that's been the most comfortable.

    Hawaii

Did this in Nov 2014 with The Right Flight School at HNL. Small operation, but the owners were very nice, and it was an outstanding experience. We had 4 plus instructor, so we went in the Aztec and I logged my first multi time. If you're a history buff, being at the controls of a plane flying...

    Happy Robert E. Lee's birthday!

In your attempt to denigrate those that disagree with you and proclaim your own greatness, you managed to misspell both "yokel" and "trivia". Greatness isn't announced, it's made obvious by its own acts. What you are announcing and what is being made obvious are diametrically opposed to...

Do you ever look down at the ground and think...

I've always looked, but I have noticed it get worse here lately. I was coaching my son's baseball team this fall, and was doing the post-practice wrap-up talk. I was in the middle of a sentence when I caught sight of two T-6s flying in loose formation in the distance. Without thinking, I just...

    Anti-Drone, Drone

Nope. Three other neighbors did, so I've got no reason to doubt them. And if you're keeping track, I've never seen you, Henning, or Bigfoot. I'm pretty sure 2 out of those three exist, too.

    Anti-Drone, Drone

We actually have had reports of someone flying a drone around our neighborhood in the mornings, hovering outside people's windows. Hasn't happened to us, yet, and I don't need another drone and won't be using a net if it does.

I got to fly a Mirage!

Man, I was really thinking about breakfast at the Beacon on Sunday. I'm just going to pretend that my day would have turned out as cool as that if I had! That Mirage seems like an awesome plane.
