    TFR starts at 4000' AGL?

It is right over the airfield at Fort Huachuca, so there might be something to that.

    TFR starts at 4000' AGL?

The others in the area are from surface to 13,500', and say they are for fire fighting. Why would this one be different if that's the case?

    TFR starts at 4000' AGL?

The post about the TFRs over AZ had me go look at what was out ther. I came across this one that is for "special security reasons", but is from 9000'-17,999'. What kind of activities would require the floor of a TFR to be 4000' AGL? http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_7_4595.html

    Handheld Aviation Transceivers

I've got the FTa-550. When my first radio crapped out and my second decided it would only pick up the local Spanish radio broadcast, I pulled it out and worked to communicate within about 10 miles of the airport. Didn't try talking to FW Center

    Anyone a Franchisee?

I took a look at a number of them. In the end I decided they were too much money and too restrictive to be worth it. If a franchise has any value, it's that there's a tried and true system already in place, and if you follow the recipe, then you can have some success. But really, most every...

    Motorcycle Radio

Dad was a firefighter, and did lots of stupid stuff in his youth. So growing up, his mantra was that I could have a bike when I was big enough to whoop him. Then I never really caught the bug again. Though ever since I first saw it, I have wondered about the Triumph Rocket III. I understand...

The perfect plane ever came on the market and my heart is racing.

Noble goal, but in state purchase = state sales tax. Adding about $4500-$5000 to your purchase price. For that money, I'd be more than willing to take my happy little but to Illinois to get the better plane, with better avionics, that has been flying more than 3 hours/year. Even if it is...

The perfect plane ever came on the market and my heart is racing.

I'd be willing to bet good money there's some familiarity with AZ, too. I hear they have some black birds round those parts.

Why do smaller jets always seem to utilize the T tail design?

So ... it doesn't. I was thinking the VC-10 was the Nimrod, and that word makes me chuckle. But apparently I should step away from the keyboard after working until 3:00am to clean up a customer's ransomware infection. Well, at least it is my customer now. The previous guys really crapped the...

    One Man's Observation

I think the extensive use of "peanut gallery" was another clue. The obscure IRS tax loophole I was referring to is the 1031 exchange. Not a smart strategy. But, the IT company I mentioned to truly is mine and here in DFW.

What Airplane Would you Buy a Raffle Ticket For?

I think you need another option on this list. "One with wings". I think the Ercoupe idea is good. Everyone I've ever spoken with has been intrigued by one. But when it comes down to where do I want to invest my money in a plane ... it's just too much of a toy for someone. But it would be a...

    One Man's Observation

I've been around these parts for a few years, even though I rarely post. I've had less time to be on here since I've started my company refurbishing old aircraft that can handle severe icing for clients that want to use obscure loopholes in the tax code, that were originally intended for real...

This may have been covered before, used airplane pricing.

For most certified planes, that's pretty easy info to get and be in the ballpark. I know it varies from plane to plane, but is the variance within the same model going to be more than 30-40 lbs?
