Engine upgrade recommendations for a J-3

Doesn't really matter since there's not an STC (to my knowledge) for a Rotax into a J-3. No clue why he suggested it when it's not really a viable path

    So, Textron just bought Pipistrel

Hard to kill it when it was never really alive. There's only a few in the US, they're all experimental (Not EAB -- experimental exhibition, which does have limitations), and from all accounts they weren't exactly close to getting the TC. Maybe Textron will carry it across the finish line for...

How do I get out of configuration page on GNC355

This is a big part of why software updates are supposed to be done by A&Ps. It's not difficult, but also going into it without a plan or the knowledge to do it right can cause problems

    WiFi in router??

I have no advice other than what the above posted said, but I feel compelled to comment about the stupidity of that design. The very early starlink setups had a single ethernet output for a switch/router, why in the world would they remove that....?

Continental 0-200D TBO - Years as important as hours?

Convert it to E-LSA and never look back. You'll eventually want to (or NEED to) anyway, thanks to Cessna's lack of support.

    Kni-520 and gps175?

Good chance it'll work, I believe i've seen a KNI-520 paired with a GTN successfully and the interfaces are probably the same. However, you're going to have to figure out your own install/cert basis since the STC for the GPS 175 doesn't include it.

Thinking about a dual sport/adventure Motorcycle

Damn, I should probably have taken that class.

    Garmin 430 to IFD 440

The tray will be fine, but you'll need an antenna, maybe antenna cable, and potentially more.

    Find plane via Transponder code?

It sounds like you're talking about FlightID, which is often (sometimes?) configurable by the pilot.

    ILS and the Garmin 430W

Its not "acting like" a navcom, it is a navcom. There's also not an "oldschool/newschool" way to fly an ILS. There's only one way.

    Safety Pilot Questions

AOPA's own article says the seat must removed.

    Ford pick up delivery times

My wife ordered through a well known dealer online. Painless and easy, and they sold for 3% under dealer invoice. It beat my x-plan pricing by quite a bit. They've been saying it'll be about 4 months, which is in line with what all of the other orders lately have been. but you're right that the...

    Bare minimum equipment for IFR

From a checkride perspective, no. A LPV can be substituted for an ILS on a checkride.

    Bare minimum equipment for IFR

That's not what he asked either. You could equip for useful IFR, but still not be able to complete a checkride. (GPS only)

Southeast peeps - SC00 Triple Tree Chili fly in

Like many others, I'm out due to airplane availability unfortunately

Touch Screen Avionics are frustrating. (Get off my Lawn!)

As others have said, Avidyne is always an option. In the meantime, have you connected your iPad and pushed flight plans that way?

    shrinking HD??

Are you implying that the GiB vs GB difference cost him nearly 1.9TB? Or did you just not read it at all

    G1000/GTX345 Traffic Fail

Whatever Garmin rep told him that was 100% lying. Software/config slowly corrupting itself over time is definitely not certifiable.

Light Sport Instrument Rating tread again

That's not true. You can't fly IFR without a medical or BasicMed.

Light Sport Instrument Rating tread again

61.65 a.1 -- Hold at least a current private pilot certificate, or be concurrently applying for a private pilot certificate, with an airplane, helicopter, or powered-lift rating appropriate to the instrument rating sought. Do you meet that with a PPL-G and sport pilot?
