Bought a plane, told to form an LLC. Your input welcome.

I believe some states like Wyoming and South Dakota have fairly inexpensive LLC annual costs. I think their under $100 each. Then you gotta get a mailing address there which is also affordable. I thought about the PO Box route but it would still have my name and it’s fairly easy to get a home...

Bought a plane, told to form an LLC. Your input welcome.

What about using an LLC for anonymity? I would like to register my plane under an LLC just so you don’t see my home address when you enter my N number on the FAA website. I don’t understand why aviation YouTubers don’t do this.

Anyone using Dynon Skyview HDX with WingX Pro?

Thanks for the response, I’m assuming you get weather on your iPad too from the HDX?

Anyone using Dynon Skyview HDX with WingX Pro?

I currently have an L3 NGT-9000 Lynx which connects nicely to my iPad using Wing X Pro. In a few months I’ll be upgrading to a Dynon Skyview HDX system with the Dynon ADS-B in and out transponder. I’m curious if it connects nicely to WingX Pro and if it displays the same level of information...

    Dynon For the Win!

Didn’t Boeing get a lot of rubber stamping with the MAX? How’d that work out for them? I think the FAA is going to be a little more thorough with certification processes moving forward.

    Commercial Check Ride Expierence

Congrats! Great post... most pilots anticipate the commercial check ride much to be much harder than it really is. Passing a check ride is always a great sense of accomplishment.

    DPE

I agree 100%! I find it a pet peeve of mine when people post only airport identifiers when talking about an airport. Unless you’re from that part of the country you probably don’t know where BFE is. But I suppose it’s a pilot thing. We LOVE our acronyms.

Can you add holes to a seat track?

I was hoping for an example or two myself but still no response.

Can you add holes to a seat track?

Not to sound like a smart as here but I’d sincerely like to read some examples for the purpose of educating myself. I’ve heard of A&Ps going away to prison for working on jack screws on MD-80s or falsifying W&B computations on S-61 helicopters that killed 9 people but never for something as...

Can you add holes to a seat track?

If your IA was good with it and signed it off then it’s a minor alteration and 100% legal. I think some of you guys overthink this stuff. Is drilling a couple extra holes in a seat rail (if done properly) really going to affect the structural integrity, even in a crash? Common sense and logic...

Cheapest way to paint an airplane?

I recently visited a paint shop (*** paint) in SoCal to look at the quality of their work. I had already received a quote from them of around $14k to paint my Mooney for an all metallic design with a pearl white base. This was about $4k cheaper than ArtCraft, who seems to be one of the best...

    Heli crash NYC

The media are generally run by idiots. They love a good hero story and a pilot who dies while not taking out a slew of people on the ground are generally going to be hailed as a hero regardless of the decisions that got them into their predicament. Even in that weather I don’t necessarily see...

    Insurance for a training aircraft

Perhaps you pay more as a lower time pilot? I’m only assuming here, I apologize if I’m wrong. I have over 6000 hours and have an instrument rating as well.

    Insurance for a training aircraft

Yes, obviously the students would rent the plane to fly solo or fly passengers once they are rated. Again, this would NOT be in my Mooney but a dedicated trainer I would buy.

    Insurance for a training aircraft

I currently own a Mooney M20J but I’m considering possibly purchasing a second airplane to do some instructing in. I know the rough rule of thumb formula for my aircraft, as a retractable, is roughly 1% to 1.3% of hull value for your insurance premium. Mine happens to be closer to 1% paying...

    Typical Instruction Rates

Holy ****e! I hadn't given serious consideration to adding on my fixed wing CFI but not I have to give it some serious thought.

    Warning - PilotJunkie

I just want to warn others of a recent issue we've had with this company. My employer ordered 3 lighted LED knee boards over six months ago and although they charged our credit card they never shipped the items. Numerous attempts to contact them by phone and by email have been unanswered...

Thinkin' about putting a deposit on an IFD 440

Oh I couldn't disagree more. Efficiency increases capability to some degree IMHO.
