    Best Approach to CPL/CFI

Hi, Recently finished my Instrument rating, with 151 hours in the logbook currently. Next goal is CPL and onto CFI, and was wondering if anyone had any tips as to how to do that efficiently. My plan as of now is to study and take the written while I build another 50-60 hours (not dual) before...

Unusual Attitude in IMC during IFR Checkride?

Still not 100% on the rules behind this, but on my ride I was told to file IFR under my name. Was VMC but still on an IFR flight plan, as he said “as for the purposes of this flight, you are instrument rated unless you prove to me otherwise”

VFR to IFR Cleared To Land

I know this has been said in the thread already but it can not be said enough. File a NASA report. Like right now. I would recommend you tell your instructor to do the same. It really can never hurt you, but can save your a** if anyone comes knocking. And yes, this event was 100% illegal.

Why is there a positive charge without engine running?

Did you try turning it off and back on again?

    Approach mnemonics

So definitely understand the feeling the over use of mnemonics in aviation, but this is the one place I have really found a strong use for it. The whole check is really just a redundancy to make sure ive done everything I should have done already, and personally gives me piece of mind crossing...

    Approach mnemonics

Very good point. Still need 9 instrument hours to go, and am going to talk to my instructor but I personally think this should be enough time to clean it up. Also, would rather try to get a system I like while I am with an instructor and not the first time I am flying solo IMC

    Approach mnemonics

Hi all, fairly close to my instrument checkride, and am trying to fine-tune a quick final approach fix checklist. My instructor has been teaching me to use both FAT-EL and CRAP when crossing FAP Flags - I.e checking for correct RNAV mode (like LPV) or any error messages displayed Altitude...

    Missed Approach non-direct holding patterns

Sporties Instrument rating course states that 60% of protected airspace is on the holding side and 40% is on the non-holding side. Sorry i can't site that anywhere more specific but that's what it says in the video.

    Missed Approach non-direct holding patterns

Yeah so not my brightest moment here. After these replies, I went back and checked approaches near me (not sure why this wasnt my first thought?) and found tons of examples that I have actually flown before. Been grounded for almost two months now for various scheduling reasons and apparently...

    Missed Approach non-direct holding patterns

So I've been studying for the instrument rating written exam, and came across a few questions where it showed me an approach chart and asked what the recommended entry for the missed approach hold was. Clearly, they are all direct, as are all other missed approach holds I have seen on paper and...

    How worth it is Oshkosh??

Ok so heres the dilemma. I am a senior in high school, have my ppl and soon to be IR. I have already been planning to do Oshkosh, and have really been looking forward to it. The current plan (i know its far away but still) was to go with my old instructor and some of his friends. Yet I have...

    Aviation Bucklist Time!

Yeah my bad probably should have included more details there. I can do pretty much anything I want in a two week window this may and then I have to present to a group of teachers on it but that part of it is never an issue. I could really do anything aviation related and it would be fine for the...

    Aviation Bucklist Time!

Hi everyone, I am a private pilot (soon to be instrument rated) and am a senior in highschool. This spring I have to do a senior project so of course im going for something aviation related. First thoughts were sea-plane rating in alaska or aerobatic training. Another that I would love to do is...
