    Aviation GADGETS

Not exactly a gaget but if you need a new pair of foggles anytime soon www.certifiedfoggles.com has some pretty cool ones (i got the american flag one but also kinda want the custom airspace one)

    ForeFlight

Its been said already but i have pro pretty much just for the geo-referenced charts. Would say to just get basic for VFR only, and certainitly wouldnt say I NEED the geo-referenced charts for IFR, but wow are they useful. of course i am capable of flying an approach without them (otherwise i...

    CPL online ground school

That makes more sense. I have heard sheppard be very highly recomended but all i saw on their site was about practice questions so it confused me. Thanks!

    CPL online ground school

Hi all, I am currently trying to find something similar for my CPL but cant seem to find something reasonable. I used sportys online ground school for both my PPL and IFR and had near perfect written scores (not trying to brag just trying to show what style worked for me). King schools price...

Need help with a couple of terms

Cant say I know the exact regs around it, but I havs flown VFR into busy class B and they really treat VFR traffic the same and still give altitude restrictions.

Is AHRS worth an additional $260?

While it honestly may be a thing you never use, for $260, yes it is. Lets be honest here, 260 isnt cheap but for aviation it is nothing, and it is something you may want one day, especially if you puruse an instrument rating (which i would always recommend).

    Setting DG from compass question

I disagree with most people here. Set your DG to the compass. First off, its only going to be off by a few degrees at most, and i see that as better than the risk of adding 5 degrees when you should have subtracted and now you are off by 10 which is more noticeable. Also, if you are thinking of...

    Getting back on the horse

Also on a slightly unrelated note, is there a reason your cfii needs tailwheel time if you already have your tailwheel endorsment?

    Getting back on the horse

I get that trust me. I hit the same feeing through my instrument training for various reasons, but trust me its worth it in the end. I stand by the fact that IFR is my favorite type of flying and it really is worth the challenge. It is not only a huge rating that makes flying places much more...

    Hobbs or FF? Time question

My advice: ditch FF logbook and use myflightbook. Much more seamless and capable(at least as of when i tried foreflight a year ago and hated it). This of course is not automatic and will need you to use the hobbs, but i think thats a more reliable method anyways.

Angle of Attack: True or False

Just wanted to say that airspeed can be very high in a stall, and will be in a sustained stall. If you ever hold a stall for a proglonged time you can very well double your standard stall speed while still in the the stall

    Fun, basic aerobatic maneuvers

Hi all, Basically I have a roughly hour long aerobatic flight booked for tomorrow in an extra 300 and am looking for some ideas. Ive done some basics before (airleron rolls, loops, barrel rool, ect) but would love some ideas for something fun but doable for a newbie to aerobatics. Not really...

    Any tips on steep turns?

I know this has been said already but its worth being said. All of my manuevers (although steep turns the most significantly) got 100X better the second i stopped looking at the panel too much. Your flying VFR. look outside. Seriously, it may take a little adjustment (as it did for me), but you...
